...EVERYONE was is awe of Star Wars?
...no one who loved SW was considered a geek or a fanboy?
...when SW figures were $2?
...watching SW didn't make you think of all the changes made to it?

Add your own, please....

I only remmber when Star Wars figures were $2.

I've been around since the beginning, and not everyone was in awe of them even when it was just SW out.

People thought people who were into Star Wars were geeks and fanboys.

For me, I don't mind noticing the changes Lucas has made. I find it all pretty facinating actually.

I didn't ask you to comment on them, bottle nose....just add to them....

Go away, Go-Mer-Pyle.

Having also been around 'from the beginning' ... I have to say that I remember when being into Star Wars did not make you a geek or a fanboy, it made you a human.

I give up....close this thread please.....

Sorry I didn't realize this was supposed to stick strictly to what you wanted to hear.

I thought it was fairly obvious that I was doing a "Remember when..." segment here where everyone added their own little "Remember when..." statement. Didn't think I needed to clarify that...

I didn't ask for comments but will gladly accept them.....but at least contribute to the original idea of the fuckin' thread please....

I remember when all the Star Wars fans I knew were pleasant and cool to each other.

Thank you.....and yeah....those were great times....but none of us are responsible for that. That's GL's fault. What did he expect to happen when he started screwing with movies as beloved as those...

Back on topic though....

I can remember when all I wanted for my birthday or Christmas was Star Wars toys...(Late seventies mind you)..

I remember I was gaga over a radio controled R2-D2 but never got it....I did however get a X-Wing reuseable rocket, that was fun...

I love everybody. Lets all smoke some reefer and chill. Hug and kisses for everybody.

That's his fault. What did he expect to happen when he started slagging off directors as beloved as Lucas...

Besides, I was staying true to the purpose of this thread. I just remember things a bit differently is all.

Gomer, Im not trying to hassle you, but you say Star Wars was always for "geeks and fanboys", but have also said that the prequels had wide appeal, and were NOT heckled and mocked by the general public. Which is it?

Remember when people just enjoyed SW and didnt turn it into their own personal soapbox?
"Among many things I have to be thankful for are you, the fans. I know that some of you haven't liked every single thing that I've done with the saga, and that you have a strong sense of ownership over all things Star Wars. But take that passion and devotion and channel it into a creative project of your own."

It isn't one way or another. There has always been a group of people who looked down on people who loved Star Wars, who would call us geeks and fanboys. There has always been a group of people who loved the movies enough to be considered hard core fans, and there has always been a group of more casual "those films are cool" fans that make up the bulk of the "masses".

Ever since ANH there has been a growing group of "George Lucas has completely lost his touch". It was small (but it did exist) for ESB, but grew larger with ROTJ and each film since.

It was inevitable. It's like a game of musical chairs. As Lucas plays each segment of his song (or story I guess) there are always going to be fans who are left without a seat. It's just the law of probability.

Remember when threads stayed on topic and didn't turn into a mish-mash of brooding children clammering for attention?

As per the topic...

I remember when Star Wars was just a trilogy of cool movies, not a frixing religion.

I remember when the Super Star Wars SNES games were the hottest things on the Super Nintendo.

I remember when I used to get into arguements with my friend Jerry over which was better: the SW Trilogy or the Lord of the Rings trilogy (this was in 1996, so I was comparing movies to books).

I remember when Hastings only had one small rack dedicated to Star Wars novels and not an entire flipping shelf like they do now.

I remember the Alamo.

I remember when all my friends were ranting about how cool the prequels were, and I was a nerd for liking SW better than the prequels and not calling it a new hope.

I also remember when I first saw the films after my mom and dad rented them from the local grocery story video department. I was enthralled with them, and still am.

I also remember when Go-Mer-Tonic wasn't on these boards, and life was so much god damn better here.

I remember when Lord of the Rings and Star Wars were still cool. Those were good ol' days.

I also remember when people didn't lie about their age so they could make seemingly more valid arguments. Gomer Pile claimed to be 35, that would have made some where around 6 years old when Star Wars came out, and 9 when Empire Strikes Back came back. Yet he claims to remember very well seeing it in the theater for the first time. What kind of nine year olds sit around talking about how Lucas is loosing his touch, or really cares about people saying Lucas is loosing his touch. Also for a 35 year old he sure has a lot of time to burn posting 321 posts in a month patronizing people for disliking the PT. If he is telling the truth about being 35 I am willing to bet he lives in his mum's attic. Sorry Gomer, I guess that was a low blow, but you are really getting annoying. You seem to have a problem letting others have their own opinions. You disagree with everybody. Lighten up man. We all have our own opinions, you don't have to beat us over the head with yours. We are happy to hear your opposition, but it is getting old reading you write the same thing over and over every other post for the last month. I am not meaning to attack you so hard, but if you notice other people seem annoyed at you also, just trying to help you gain respect amongst the community.

It's about what I excpect from people who dwell in negativity so much.

Not that it should really have any bearing on the topics we are discussing, but I own my own condo.

I don't have any problem with other people expressing their opinions. I just happen to have my own.

Some of you are annoyed because -you- can't handle opinions that differ from your own.

That's why you pushed the "You must live with your mom" button.

Dude, your proving my point. I never said the trouble is that we disagree. Every time somebody says something you disagree very vocally and annoyingly. Plenty of people have thought likewise to you and have gotten on just fine with the folks around here. You constantly complain about the way we think. Perhaps it is you who can't stand people disagreeing with you. I have no problem with your disagreements.
