We watch 1776 every year on July 4th. This is definately off topic (what is on-topic on this post anyhow?), but did you read the David McCullough John Adams book? I have yet to, but my wife says it is excellent.

I inherited it from my father, who can't watch it every year because my mother can't stand it. She tries to watch it with him but she burns out at "He Plays the Violin." For some reason, she can't stand that song.
