Ratatouille on VHS - South Korea (Released)

Author
Time

This release contains rips of a VHS version of Ratatouille that was released in South Korea in 2007. In most of the world VHS was already a dead format by 2007 and new films only released on DVD and Blu-Ray.
But VHS continued to live on in South Korea for several more years primarily as a rental format. Ratatouille was made available on VHS in South Korea as both a Korean language dubbed release and also a subtitled release with English audio.

Two files are available:

  • The first file is an unedited rip of the Korean language dubbed VHS.

  • The second file is edited and takes the video from the dubbed VHS and mixes it with the English audio from the subtitled VHS. The subtitled VHS audio is available thanks to PapaPolio.

Here’s a photo of Inception which was released on VHS in South Korea in December 2010: https://www.flickr.com/photos/moreska/12112214923

Inception is believed to be the final Hollywood film released on tape in South Korea. You will hear rumors of later films (like The Amazing Spider-Man) being released but I’ve never seen any photos or videos to back that up. But I have seen some local Korean movies that continued to get VHS releases into 2011 and 2012.
