So I'm kind of pissed about something, so I figured I'd voice it here. I'm a member of a WW2 reenactors forum, where we discuss, well, WW2. And I was wondering if we could have an off topic forum, since I would like to talk to some of the guys about other, non-war stuff. So, I politely request, and the reply from the admin is:

"No. You have all the time in the world to BS and grab ass, you don't need to do it on a site dedicated to WW2 reenacting."

Ugh. I know its not a huge deal... what do you guys think? Do you think he could have been a but more nice about it? I'm good friends with the guy too... not like he's a bad guy or anything. I think he's just having a case of forum nazi .

Or am I just overreacting to nothing?

Gentlemen, you can’t fight in here, this is the war room!

Forum Nazi? Makes me wonder which side he re-enacts.

Well, we do American.

To put it plainly, there's a difference between Nazi and German. We have guys who play the Germans, not the Nazis. After all... if no one di the Germans... who would we fight against?

I think that guy is out of line.

First off, if they really dont want an off topic forum then he could have been just a little bit nicer about it (look closely at his reply and im sure you can find just a little room for improvement )

Secondly, I havent been on many forums, but every forum I have been on has/had an off topic forum.

Sounds like this forum nazi needs to get out more; not all of us want to spend the whole day in front of the computer on our porta potties with a Costco size bag of Doritos. You should drop these guys like an A-bomb.

Princess Leia: I happen to like nice men.
Han Solo: I'm a nice man.

I think doing anything with a Costco sized thing is worthwhile. Hell, just eat the bag and take it back for a refund. I've literally taken salads I've eaten back and got a refund.

no offense, but how do you reenact WWII without someone playing Nazis?

Well, there's a difference between Germans and Nazis. The Nazis were a political group that conisisted of a small amount of the German population. Generally speaking SS units tended to be Nazis and were fighting for Hitler, where as Whermacht (regular army) were average Germans fighting for their country.

Why don't you reenact WW2 battles like that Monty Python sketch, with women fighting in the mud...

Or: in the next reenactment, have a guy play a gay Hitler behind the german line, dressed in pink and giving orders in a amusingly gay way...
“Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is tell them they are being attacked and denounce the pacifists for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. It works the same in any country.” — Nazi Reich Marshal Hermann Goering

Shimmy, you can start up threads as a forum member, but to create an entirely new section (which is what you need to do in the case of an off topic area), you need to be a mod or webmaster. Even if Karma wanted to do it, he couldn't. Starting up an offtopic thread within a topical section is just bad form and Karma wouldn't do that anyway.

Karma, he was definitely out of line and I don't see any reason why an off topic section cannot be created. Have you tried sending private messages to the rest of the forum membership to get their opinion? I'm sure that if you were to find a large group of people who want it and were willing to e-mail the Nazi... errr... forum mod all at the same time, he might see the light and start up the section.

I say a bunch of you give the mod an e-mail blitzkrieg.

i know but if you start creating thread in a folder inwhich they dont belong eventually the webmaster will have to create a place for them.

No. He'll get pissed and either lock or delete the threads and then put an IP ban on you so you can no longer post.

Pretty much what he said . After all, if this is reaction to a request for off-topics, imagine what he'll do for an actual post.

Have you handed him his little armband swastika? I hear Prince Harry has an extra he could loan him.

It sucks that one of the evilest regimes in history had to have such a cool symbol.

Quoted from another site:

"The Swastika" is the oldest cross and emblem in the world. It forms a combination of four "L's" standing for Luck, Light, Love and Life. It has been found in ancient Rome, excavations in Grecian cities, on Buddhist idols, on Chinese coins dated 315 B.C., and our own Southwest Indians use it as an amulet.
It is claimed that the Mound Builders and Cliff Dwellers of Mexico, Central America consider "The Swastika" a charm to drive away evil and bring good luck, long life and prosperity to the possessor.

This postcard, copyright 1907 by E. Phillips, a U.S. card publisher, speaks for the universally high regard in which the swastika was held as a good luck token before use by the Nazis corrupted its meaning.

Yeah, now you can get arrested in Germany for even owning one.

I thought they were the tolerant ones over in Europe.

Geez. Still, I guess it could offend some people if they take it as a symbol of racism.

I agree that there is a difference btw Germans and Nazis, but the Nazis were there. I just don't how you and reenact WWII without them. Sorry if I'm being annoying.
