It's not how much times you've watched it, it's how much of an insane nutcase you are.

Or how much this shizzle sticks in your cranium.

Shizzle? rofl...

Actually, now that I think about it, I watched Jedi the most as a kid, because the first was so boring it helped me get to sleep, and if I made it past that, I was treatedto the killer sail-barge action scene.

Too bad you didn't have 2001; as a kid, that definitely would have put you to sleep.

Han Solo: I'm a nice man.

As a kid?!?! That movie puts me to sleep now. I'm 30.

At least someone else feels the way I do about 2001.

BLASPHEMY!!

I first watched 2001 at age SEVEN, I didn't find it boring at all, and I loved it, even though I didn't understand much of it. I was only able to watch it again at age 15, and at that time it became my favorite movie of all time. I was never bored watching it, and I do get bored easily. Sure it is slow paced, but not every sci-fi movie must be fast-moved action-packed films such as Star Wars.

I agree that sci fi does not need to be fast moving or action packed to be good. But it does have to hold your attention.

Gattaca, one of my all-time fave scifi films is neither fast moving nor action packed. But it is absolutely spectacular because it does one thing that 2001 does not do... it holds my attention.

I'm with ya, Sessler.

You guys are talking about 2001 like it's Battlefield Earth, it is NOT a bad movie, it is one of the best movies ever made, it's a classic movie, it's part of the pop culture references you'll get watching virtually any movie/tv show/cartoon set in space (2001 and Star Wars are both references).

True it is considered a classic. But it is slow moving and its ending is weird. I would say this movie is more for adults than kids.

And it's more for intilectuals.

Who here can distinguish between intilectuals and intelligent people?

Bear in mind, Ric, that what you are saying is purely subjective. It's one of the best to you and a classic to you. I don't agree. I feel it is an overhyped movie that just makes no sense whatsoever and is mindnumbingly boring. And I watched it when I was 23. But this is also just my opinion and I acknowledge it as such. I'm not requiring you to agree. But you shouldn't question my right to feel this way about it.

However, I would never lump it with Battlefield Earth. That's just a bad movie. Bad writing, acting, directing, everything. Whereas 2001 does have some redeeming qualities. I just can't think of them right now.

What are you talking about? Battlefield Earth is a classic: great writing, acting, directing, and set design. Acknowledge it as a classic film or I shall burn you at the stake!

Let's heat things up a little: Battlefield Earth is Scientology propaganda, and I shall waste neither time onr money seeing it.

Princess Leia: I happen to like nice men.
Han Solo: I'm a nice man.
