If The Mandalorian continues to impress at this level, it may eventually become my favorite Star Wars of all, even more so than the movies.

Definitely up there with Star Wars and Empire for me. It’s simple enough storytelling, and that’s part of why it’s so compelling. The parent and child dynamic is so quintessential to Star Wars, except now it feels more relevant to real life.
The Clone Wars finale, the Star Wars Rebels finale, and Rogue One are my other favourite pieces of Disney era content and as a matter of fact they’re ALL ‘up there’. If you ask me, it’s a great time to be a Star Wars fan.

I really agree with this. The last four episodes of TCW were top-tier Star Wars.
Time to update my list.
I thought it was time for an update.
Master list:
- The Mandalorian
- Rogue One
- The Empire Strikes Back (1980)
- Star Wars (1977)
Wow, Chapters 13 and 14 must have made it for you, Rodney! Congratulations to The Mandalorian on being bestowed the great honour of being #1 on Rodney’s favourites list.
It’s close, for me. Behind Empire… for the moment.

I’ve been thinking this since the middle of the first season. I talked about it more in the thread for The Mandalorian. I love all of Star Wars, but The Mandalorian makes me feel like a kid again. I love it.
Now that we haven’t had a new movie in almost two years and the dust has pretty much settled on the ST, I’m revisiting my list. This is how I’m feeling with a little bit of hindsight.
1-2. Star Wars
1-2. The Empire Strikes Back
3. The Last Jedi
4. Return of the Jedi
5. The Force Awakens
6. Rogue One
7. The Phantom Menace
8. Solo
9-10. Attack of the Clones
9-10. Revenge of the Sith
11. The Rise of Skywalker
Good call. My last ranking was over a year ago and I re-evaluated a big portion of the franchise during the period.
Bumping this thread because I think I’ve finally arrived at my definitive ranking of these films:
- Star Wars
- The Empire Strikes Back
- Return of the Jedi
- Revenge of the Sith
- Rogue One
- The Last Jedi
- Solo
- Attack of the Clones
- The Clone Wars
- The Phantom Menace
- The Force Awakens
- The Rise of Skywalker
As you all can see… I’m not a fan of J. J. Abrams.
Time for another update.
It fluctuates for me over time . Here are my current rankings of the live action films
The Empire Strikes Back ( This one never changes and will always be my #1 )
Star Wars
Return Of The Jedi
Rogue One
The Last Jedi
The Force Awakens
Solo
The Phantom Menace
Revenge Of The Sith
Attack Of The Clones
The Rise Of Skywalker
Mine have fluctuated a bit I think, I’ve become less keen on the sequels over time. I’ve also become less keen on The Mandalorian season 2 so that’s dragged the show down a little in my rankings.
Movies:
Series:
Still haven’t finished watching Clone Wars (2003), Resistance, or Droids.
“Remember, the Force will be with you. Always.”
Personal Ranking:
Critical Ranking:
But we can’t turn back. Fear is their greatest defense. I doubt if the actual security there is any greater than it was on Aquilae or Sullust. And what there is is most likely directed towards a large-scale assault.
A re-ranking of live-action stuff:
Rogue One just struck a nerve in such a thoroughly nasty way. It’s the only movie in the series that fell victim to the Eight Deadly Words for me.
My rankings have changed too.
Skywalker Saga:
The Phantom Menace
The Empire Strikes Back
Return of the Jedi
Attack of the Clones
Revenge of the Sith
A New Hope
The Last Jedi
The Rise of Skywalker
The Force Awakens
Spinoffs:
Rogue One
Solo
TV Series:
The Clone Wars
Rebels
Attack of the Clones has become one of my favourite films in the series. It’s not perfect by any stretch but every time I watch it I discover new layers. I also enjoy the slower and meditative pacing as it gives you lots of time to reflect and absorb the atmosphere.
I’m also leaning The Rise of Skywalker slightly over The Force Awakens. I think The Force Awakens is better made but I find myself enjoying more scenes in The Rise of Skywalker, namely the Aki Aki Festival with the children and puppet show and the training montages. Context aside these things are pretty fun to watch.
I hope one day soon I’ll feel less cynical about Disney Star Wars. I miss being engaged but it’s so different from George’s Star Wars that it just doesn’t have the same feel and desire to tell stories but instead seems like nostalgic tales. I think it’s why I’m cautiously optimistic about Visions. It feels like it could be more.
“Heroes come in all sizes, and you don’t have to be a giant hero. You can be a very small hero. It’s just as important to understand that accepting self-responsibility for the things you do, having good manners, caring about other people - these are heroic acts. Everybody has the choice of being a hero or not being a hero every day of their lives.” - George Lucas

The Clone Wars Series
The Original Trilogy is tied
The Last Jedi (The majority of the comedy wasn’t that consistent with the rest of films but other than that it was really fantastic to me)
Clone Wars Micro Series
The Force Awakens
Unsure:
Solo (I’ve eventually got to rewatch this again)
Rogue One (Same with Solo)
The Prequel Trilogy (I really love the what spawned from them (novels, cw, lore, etc) though otherwise not for me)
I haven’t seen The Rise of Skywalker and kinda don’t plan to.

I just cannot fathom how Kennedy, who is a skilled producer and a very intelligent woman, could have produced such non sense. Something went wrong with the ST from its very root, I don’t know how to explain… or maybe I don’t really care now. I feel Adam Driver’s pain: such a good actor in such a mess…
To sum up:
- OT
- PT
- ST : but I just want to forget this trilogy.
So real ranking:
- OH : Original Hexalogy
See you all. Have fun. I’ll probably come back from time to back to check out OT hybrid cuts and a ROTS conservative edit.
After rewatching the ST with proper fanedits, my ranking doesn’t change much:
The good ones (lucky me that’s they actually form a complete narrative):
The “it’s still kinda OK” ones:
5. The Phantom Menace
6. The Last Jedi
The “it’s really getting difficult” ones:
7. Attack of the Clones
8. Rogue One
The “I can no longer say something even remotely nice about” ones:
9. Solo
10. The Rise of Skywalker
11. The Force Awakens (this one truly is unwatchable: cheap, uninteresting, déjà vu… the matrix of everything which is wrong in the nostalgia trend which has plagued modern cinema)
I can finally put SW behind me 😃
Next time I’ll follow my own advice ahah 😄
So long 🙌
^ That’s all very well, Mala. Though how can you put Star Wars behind you… not knowing your true feelings and rankings for the one and true Prequel Trilogy - the Holiday Special, Caravan Of Courage and Battle For Endor?!

ahah true 😄
For ranking those I’m waiting to watch them as they have always been intended, ie as a “Jedi supercut” (ROTJ + The ewok movies) and a “Death Star Supercut” (Rogue One, ANH and the Holiday special): when they exist in their final form just ping me 😃
I’ll still watch the new tv series beinùg released because they mostly are quite entertaining and kinda fun; just saying that after trying one last time the ST - with very nice fanedits: starlight, legendary and ascendant, which represent almost perfect cuts of each entry - I’m a bit burnt with it and I’l leave to rest for a while the original hexalogy; I have seen them so many times I need to wait a few years before revisiting them.
So long 🙌
