Perhaps next time you should choose better phrasing that “some kind of Hebrew shit.” That’s the part I reacted to, not the Hebrew name for God.

I’ll agree my phrasing of “no different” than the Chinese name thing could have been worded better because it did make it unclear what I took issue with.

OtakuWarrior reminds me of this creep I know of irl, which is both hilarious and unsettling.

Maybe they’re the same person.

I think thanks to Mr. Fo’s fine detective work, that we’ve established that everyone apart from Jetrell himself is a Frink sock.

A proper term is “mentally challenged”.

In any case, I wonder if you might have been “clearly offensive to certain people who have mental problems”?

It’s not.

There’s a clear difference between ‘moron’ and ‘mentally challenged.’

“Gay” used to just mean “happy” in English. Now it doesn’t. Language is fluid.

Connotation is irrelevant. Only facts are relevant here.

Oh, your facts stchick again. I hate to break it to you, but context is important in language. You just don’t say “Thunder!” in the middle of a conversation.

Gay still means happy in addition to now more common informal use for homosexual person.

Moron was originally defined as a psychology term for “a person of mild mental retardation” in certain IQ range. While the new informal meaning doesn’t relate to the technical term in psychology, it still means stupid person nevertheless.

Does society at large use either of those words in that context anymore? Not really.

The context of the use of “moron” in that post was an insult. And there is a clear definition as to what moron means in that context.

Nevertheless, unlike “gay”, “moron” in the new context has almost identical meaning as the original definition.

It might have been but that is not what this is about. If you are going to use insults related to stupid/retarded people, don’t complain that it is offensive to mentally challenged people when other people use it.

As a model hypocrite, you did this almost simultaneously in anime thread. If you haven’t noticed, the quoted text is from your post there.

I see no way that it could’ve been offensive. yhwx is incredibly close to the Hebrew name for God, so I asked if his name was ‘Hebrew shit’. Sure, it wasn’t a legitimate question, it was more of an observation. If his name was something like “Shlomo Goldstein” or “moneylover84” and I said “oh is that Jewish?” then I could see how someone would be offended.
