I just saw the new Ghostbusters trailer… Yikes

I had a laugh with it.

That’s it, just a single laugh. Not even a laugh, a light chuckle at best. It was pretty bland. Kid-friendly and “PC” just for the sake of being so.

Apparently there’s an international trailer thats “better” but I doubt it’s really much better. I hope to be wrong.

The international trailer was a little better. It just does not look funny at all. Ghostbusters is just another example of the endless stream of remakes that never should have been made. You just cannot beat the original.

Could have sworn it’s a sequel/reboot? They did show the firehouse from the original film.

It’s a sequel I guess. They acknowledged the existence of the past team. Still, it’s basically a reboot. Like TFA if TFA was made without much care for the source material. I guess that makes it Man of Steel, then.

It’s a reboot set in a separate universe. The opening text in the trailer was a marketing thing to remind people that it’s a new version of the movie they loved. Maybe they’ll inhabit the firehouse halfway through the film, or even at the end.

According to that trailer’s voice over, Winston Zeddmore was considered a scientist! Ha!

“Spy” had terrible trailers that made it look like “worthless fat woman gets into slapstick spy hijinks”, but the actual movie is so much better. This is the same team, so I’m guessing they’re just bad at making trailers.

I’m just never going to trust a trailer again.

The all women idea doesn’t bother me, the lack of great jokes does. Some of the lines in the original would probably be considered offensive for whatever reasons (“This man has no dick” I’M TRIGGERED!!), and this movie just seems like it’ll have really lame jokes in comparison.

I think all of the actresses are funny, the script just sounds awful though. There was not a single funny joke in the trailer. I think something that is bothering people is that it almost seemed like the only reason they made the movie was to have a female version of Ghostbusters. I thought it was a good idea to have the women so that it would not be a recasting of the original characters. I was extremely disappointed that the characters came across as stereotyped “action-hero” women. Not to mention that Leslie Jones’ character is just a total stereotype of the sassy New York City black woman. It looks like it is going to be a total waste of talent. Who knows though, they may have just released some poor trailers and it will turn out better, but this is a bad first impression.

As for it being a sequel, I consider it a sequel in the same way that the Tim Burton Alice in Wonderland is a sequel to the original. It has some loose ties to it, but for all intents and purposes it is a remake. Especially since it has the same title as the original, with no subtitle of any kind.
