Random Thoughts — Page 258

When 'My Old Kentucky Home' plays on Derby Day,  my eyes can never stay totally dry.    I always think of my Grandmother and Grandfather on my father's side.  Both were big horse racing fans.   My Grandfather on my father's side works at the horse racing tracks in NJ.   He died in 1978.   I don't remember much about him, except the stories told to me by my father and my Grandmother.   I know every Derby Day, Grandmother and my father  would think of Grandfather when 'My Old Kentucky Home' was played .   In 2001, she passed.    How I miss her.    It is a shame she didn't live to see my niece, her Great Grandchild.   What a pair those two would have made.

Weep no more, my lady
Oh, weep more today
Will sing one song for the old Kentucky home
For the old Kentucky home far away

Is it okay to call out psychics as charlatans?

That depends on whether they are openly psychic or in the closet.

There might be an extremely tiny handful with some sort of ability, (and who aren't publicity seekers) but yeah, they are mostly fakers who simply exploit people.

I was surprised to see John Edward on Sci Fi's 20th anniversary special. Wasn't he totally debunked years ago?

I think you might be confusing them with Whales.

Aren't they all at one point or another? It doesn't matter, though, since there's always going to be gullible suckers who'll buy into their smoke-and-mirror acts.

Wow! I thought life was going to get easier for me when I graduated next week.  Now it looks like I've got some new responsibilities to take care of.  I won't say any more for now, but life just got complex once again.

So.... I've not been posting much due to the fact that I got a cold. Ironically before that I was gearing up to do some productive stuff and read lots of books and set up a plan and stuff. Plan went to hell. Was all motivated to learn 20+ languages set everything up for what I would have to do to get that info in my head. It would've worked if not for that.... Also feeling nauseous today probably because of something I ate... Well at least that's better then constant coughing.

If I had a bag that could hold an infinite amount of space, could it hold another bag that could hold an infinite amount of space?

Oh, that.  No, that was a false alarm and a late menses.  It's something else ;)

If it were up to me, the temperature would fluctuate between 10-20 °C, never dropping or rising beyond that range.

It's not up to me, though, so I have to suffer through miserable cold and heat nine months a year in the decrepit shithole known as the Okanagan Valley.

Maybe I'll move to Vancouver some day. I hear it rains down there all the time (and I do love the rain).

They are releasing a 3D Blu-ray of Wizard of Oz. I wonder how they handled the matte painting walls that are always within view. I honestly think 3D will cheapen the presentation.

its stupid.  that is like colorizing a black & white movie, or adding sound to a silent movie.

Ugh,

So, I had a beard many years ago, then eventually got rid of it. Since then, I've toyed around with growing one every now and then, but was never serious enough about it and would end up shaving it a few weeks in. Toward the beginning of this year, I decided I was going to grow one and fought off all temptations to shave it during those annoyingly scratchy first few weeks. I now have a pretty cool looking full beard that I am rather fond of.

I met a girl a few weeks ago, and she really likes the thing too. But when we make out she'll do weird things like lick it or start making out with my chin, cheek, or upper lip. It's weird feeling and it is absolutely disgusting! I have to stop every few minutes to cringingly wipe saliva out of it. The fact that I am backing off every so many seconds to wipe at my beard with a mortified look on my face doesn't seem to phase her. I mean, how do you tell a girl, "Uh, please don't do that, it's extremely gross" in a polite way? I've hinted that I don't like it, and she doesn't seem to get it, commenting about how nice and soft it feels, and how much she loves my beard, and doing it more.

It is so horrible that I've thought about shaving it, but decided that I'm completely dedicated to my relationship with the beard, and that the girl has got to go.

Hahah that is fucked up.

But at least it's interesting to know there are chicks like this around.

I've regrown my beard too and it's looking fairly decent, the moustache now is actually the longest I've ever let it grow and when I wake up in the morning it's all curled up in a handlebar.

Ender! You're a swell guy, but your avatar freaks me right out! I dunno what it is about it, but I honestly find it disturbing. And I live on a steady diet of horror films! What's it from? Looks Biblical... Well, North American Biblical.

I just found it on the Net.  The actor is Asa Butterfield, who plays Ender in the upcoming Ender's Game.  I think it's from a mythological movie he played in.  I thought it was perfect because it's Ender, but he looks like a Sith!

JEDIT: A little research reveals that he played young Mordred in the TV series Merlin.  That's where the picture comes from.

You wouldn't expect me to be engaged in fornication, would you?  Much too strict in my biblical interpretation for that, silly.  Of course we're married!
