Can I just say that I'm a big fan of pope #121?  A bit of a scoundrel at times, but he certainly proved his worth.

Scientists are convinced they have discovered the Higgs Boson, aka God particle.

This and the recent conclave are really getting me thinking about Angels & Demons.

Attention all conspiracy theorists, be on the lookout for an Illuminati thread bump!  Something's going on here.

So my parents and I are having dinner, and the tv's on. "Unknown" with Liam Neeson is playing. Keep in mind that the movie is set in Germany. We're absentmindedly following the movie while eating. My dad at one point looks at the action long enough to ask:

Dad- "Isn't that the guy from Schindler's List?"
Me- "Liam Neeson."
Dad- Yeah, that's him.

A couple of minutes pass. Now there's an action scene, Neeson is struggling with a bad guy, and he pins him down to the floor and yells at him:

Liam- "Who are you??"
Dad, imitating Neeson- "Are you a jew??"

It's very loosely based on the characters more than the books and was rather cruelly cancelled.

If they can make three episodes of Sherlock a year and six episodes of Doctor Who a once in a while story from Dirk Gently wouldn't have been too much of an ordeal for the BBC.

They could cancel one of their inane talent shows.

It's stopped bleedin snowing!

It's the one in the second Dirk novel.  Not sure if that's the same chap or not.

I'm relieved you guys know what I'm talking about. :)

My Dad used to complain that the British shows he liked only cranked out a handful of episodes per year.

For some reason, I imagine the bulk of the Beeb's programming today still looks a lot like the stuff Monty Python was making fun of.
