And as someone pointed out to me, most of the threads that were locked were actually interesting topics that just got derailed.

If you don't have the time or the inclination to moderate right, why even bother doing it at all? If Off Topic isn't worth messing with, why waste time or find the inclination to come in and lock random threads? I guess any thread that has a heated discussion break out in it from now on is subject to being locked, rather than there being any effort made to weed out the source of trouble?

+1 on the cat. Being a cat lover, I cannot say enough how great they are.

Around here in Texas, snakes and field mice run rampant. The snakes do an okay job, so it is always best to have an outdoor cat who can keep all those critters away. Something about a cat living on your property which makes it HIGHLY unattractive to snakes, possums, skunks, etc.

Indoors, a good mouser cat is invaluable.

Hi. If Moth3r got those PMs and started to analyse all the posts from each side, chances are I still wouldn't get as much as a threat, without a good bunch of you getting a slice as well.
In some cases, maybe even a bigger one, should "fighting back" be considered a lesser offense than "derailing a thread with personal attacks by oneself".

So would that be a really good idea?
At any rate, maybe you should at least take a look at who's the "source of trouble" yourself, before sending any PMs. This way, chances are you'll emerge unscathed.

Thanks to the (nice) lax moderation, we end up with a severe troll problem, then when Fink tries to deal with the troll problem we decide it is moderation time and moderate the hell out of his attempt. Meanwhile, yay, troll's still here!

Hey, CP, you seem like an intelligent fellow (whenever you keep out of pissing contests, that is ), so here's an idea:
Next time you read a joke about something, how about you don't respond with an aggressive insult post, and there won't be any trouble? Sounds reasonable?

Better than fueling flamewars first, and then pointing fingers at imaginary "trolls" when it gets too hot, it seems to me.
But maybe you have a different opinion about that ;)

I love spiders too, if possible it's best to try and move creatures out of the house than kill them but we had a air duct infestation of starlings once and they brought loads of spider eggs in with the nesting materials ate through the bathroom roof so eventually we had to get the pest control people in to deal with the millions of little spider babies.

I still felt like crap afterwards.

It is weird that people who keep pets could kill other animals based purely on personal preference.
