I'm really surprised how many of you like South Park!

Why is that?

Because were old? ;)  I was a teenager when South Park started.

Because I hardly know anyone in real life who watches it.

They all like that pitiful excuse for a television show Family Guy.

South Park makes fun of everybody no matter who they are, but in the name of comedy.

Family Guy is like a little dumb wimp who picks on the handicapped.

"The other versions will disappear. Even the 35 million tapes of Star Wars out there won’t last more than 30 or 40 years. A hundred years from now, the only version of the movie that anyone will remember will be the DVD version [of the Special Edition], and you’ll be able to project it on a 20’ by 40’ screen with perfect quality. I think it’s the director’s prerogative, not the studio’s to go back and reinvent a movie." - George Lucas

RIP Clarence Clemons, age 69. The E-Street Band will never be the same without one of the most talented saxophonists around.

I had a dream the other night that I was the 5th Weezer (or possibly the 6th, since there was another new guy there... maybe I was before him, and he was the 6th.  Probably.)

We were on tour and were in a small town parade with a bunch of other of today's big bands.  We were holding our own in comparative popularity, but we knew we could do better!  Since a lot of these people were of my parents generation, I suggested that we try to channel John and Paul and write a new song that would remind them of the Beatles.  The other 5 Weezers thought this was a brilliant idea.  In the end, I wrote a song that was called Darth Vader Dad, which I thought was quite decent.  Even when I woke up, I was convinced that it was a great song.

It took a full day for that feeling to wear off.  :)

Was I with them and did they sing Darth Vader Dad?

Oh, and welcome back to the forum.

Tom Jones is still recording. Your Argument is void.

Weird Al has been touring with the SAME BAND since before I was born. Dedication, thy name is Al.

Weird Al's new album is only $3.99 on Amazon MP3 TODAY. They certainly know what albums to discount to get my business.

I just listened to the previews of all of the songs.  Nothing grabbed me.  Which is too bad, because I'm a pretty big fan of Classic Al.

The real problem is probably that I don't know the songs he's parodying anymore.

This.  At least that's my problem.  Especially in the polka melody.

Whats sad is that I know the "Weird" versions of most of his classic stuff more than I know the originals. Kind of the opposite of what you old people are experiencing.

I do for certain things, as I figure most do. I mean, I didn't know "Lola" at the same time I heard "Yoda", but made the connection when I heard "Lola" years later. Or "The Hot Rocks Polka", which is a Rolling Stones medley. Didn't know those songs as a lad.

It's much harder for me now as I couldn't care less about most mainstream music. I don't listen to the radio or watch...what did they used to call those quaint little things............music videos? But I will say that some of Al's best has been based on stuff I had no clue about. I'm sure lots of Al's fans had never heard of Chamillionaire before "White and Nerdy", yet it's one of his best tunes. :)

Listening to Weird Al is so mainstream.

Hey wait, how is it possible that I haven't put a Hipster Kitty reference in TRM yet?
