My random thought - a promotion should be worth more than a tiny insignificant raise. Otherwise, it's a meaningless change in title that means more work for essentially the same compensation. Lame.

Can someone recommend a good free little program I could use just to rip a small portion of a DVD to .avi or whatever?
I use a combination of DVD Decyrpter and Handbrake. The former to break the copy protection (and sometimes to make a vob file), and the latter to turn it into a useable file (often .avi, but I don't know if it supports that format anymore...) to edit.

Thanks, Gaffer. I've actually had both of those programs on my computer at one time or other (might now, but haven't checked), but I dunno if I ever used them.
Once this dumb little thing I'm doing is finished, I'll be posting a link. Adywan especially will get a huge kick out of it.
I like DVDFab for ripping.
I've been using DVDFab for years, but only for copying. I'll have to look up its ripping capabilities.
Adobe now has subscription options
I think that's pretty cool.
