ROTS sets new Opening Day Gross record

Just heard on the radio they said that ROTS is now officially the biggest grossing film on its opening day.

suprisingly (at least i think it is) ROTS was only number 3 for number of theaters it was released in. *edit* number 3 for this weeks release at any rate, looks like its 12 for opening day release.

also, was checking out some of the other stats/rankings and so far it is ranked 8 for the SW franchise, which includes the SE's

That's really cool, but also it was expected. I can't wait to see how much it makes on it's opening weekend.

The film cost 113 millions, plus 98 millions in advertising and distribution. About 200 million dollars. It has achieved 50 millions yesterday only. So, it's gonna pay for itself in only 4 days - let's be reminded that it opened on a thursday, and there is going to be a bigger audience on friday/saturday/sunday. I think it'll make top 5 box office worldwide.
