ROTS a kind of AOTC 2.0?

While I was replying to 50's diner in Star Wars universe thread I got an idea for this thread. While watching ROTS I got a sense that it's sort of a AOTC 2.0 like he was trying to fix the problems he created in AOTC(without making a AOTC SE). Here's just a short list of the similarities between ROTS and, AOTC:

1downward chase/downward spaceship fall
2Mace tells what Dooku is/Mace tells what Grevious is
3Anakin and, Padme meet up after being away for a while
4Anakin and, Obiwan seperate becuase of some mission
5Anakin whines about Obiwan to Padme
6Obiwan overhears the meeting with Dooku/Grevious
7Bad romance dialog between Anakin and, Padme
8Obiwan doesn't meet up with Anakin again until near the end
9Anakin and, Palpatine go down the same stairs while having a conversation
10Mace tells Anakin to do something and, Anakin does the opposite
11Obiwan has to go into stealth mode
12Padme packs in the same room in both movies
13Mace/Yoda/Obiwan talk about Anakin
14Anakin has a nightmare and, believes it will come true
15Some short sequence of Anakin killing aliens
16Anakin tells Padme he killed Tuskens/Obiwan tells Padme Anakin killed Jedi
17pan up sun on right/pan down sun on right
18Obiwan gets thrown over a ledge by Jango/Grievous and, in TPM Maul
19Padme comments on Anakin's changes
20Obiwan and, Anakin talk about his training

That's just off the top of my head. There's probably more but, I don't want to list them all.... Am I the only one that thinks this?

on top of all those things, they both suck terribly, so yeah, they're pretty similar.

A friend of mine told me that she read somewhere that Lucas said it was a "bad idea" (or whatever he called it) to introduce the concept of Midichlorians. So that is why it is never said in AOTC. But then like the contradicting prick that he is, he brought up the idea of Midichlorians again in ROTS - which didn't do anything for the story.
I remember in the theater thinking, "Oh come on! Not this again! I thought we were past this. That midichlorians were a bad call on the TPM movie. God dammit...."

Lucas could just have easily used the word "Force" over the word "midichlorian" and it wouldn't have altered Palps speech.

"He was so strong that he could influence the force in such a way that he could even stop people from dieing."

Which would then make a little connection to Yoda from ROTJ when he says "Strong am I with the force...but not that strong." And make you wonder, "Hmm...was Pleagasis (or whatever the hell his name was) really that strong? Did he have this power?"

But Lucas is stupid so he kept the concept of Midichlorians even though he said he wouldn't. That lieing rat basterd.

Also, and I just gotta say this one - If the PT was supposed to be about Anakin's past, don't you think that we should have seen more of him and Obi-Wan growing together?

I mean, Obi-Wan goes on about how "he was the best star pilot in the galaxy" - with I don't buy because we see him drag race as a 9 year old boy, and then we mostly see Obi-Wan flying in the other two movies than we see Anakin fly. Hell, even Padme flew her ship more than we saw Anakin fly anything of his. Obi-Wan comes off as a better pilot than Anakin (AOTC planetary rings, anyone?) All Anakin does is bitch for 3 movies.

He was a "cunning warrior." - He is? Since when? What did he do that was so cunning? I didn't see him come up with any brilliant military strategies. I saw him bitch about how Obi-Wan was holding him back. Does that count?

"And he was a good friend." - Really? Because for most of the PT Obi-Wan and Anakin saw very little of each other. Did they ever have any mission together? It seems more like they went to the same Univeristy and maybe had a couple of classes together, but it's not like they had lunch together everyday.

I think that there are a third of the list of parallels are legit. Things like romantic dialogue are a necessary part of the story if you have two people who are in love. It doesn't mean Lucas is re-doing it. Other things like Obi-wan's actions on Geonosis and Mustafar are legitamate parallels. I think that Lucas is liking concept that he felt worked in one movie and plugging them into another. He has been reusing ideas from the beginning. A New Hope originally had Luke checking out the Star Destroyer battle from the surface of Tatooine. This of course was cut, but Lucas brought the scene back for the beginning of Empire with the probe droid. If you want to talk about re-using and remaking ideas, Jedi is much more of a re-make of A New Hope than Revenge is a remake of Clones.

Sluggo: I said bad romance dialog. I know that romance dialog is nessasary if you have two people falling in love but, something like this is a parralel.
"Grown more beautiful I mean
For a senator I mean"-AOTC
"You are so beautiful."
"It's only becuase I'm so, in love."
"No, no it's becuase I'm so in love with you"
"So, love has blinded you?"
"Well, that's not exactly what I meant."
"It's probably true." -ROTS

Jenny: I think that Episode two would have been greatly better if it followed the storyline of the clone wars video game. Basically ***SPOILER ALERT*** ****TURN BACK NOW IF YOU DON'T WANT SPOILERS***SPOILER ALERT****
It starts when Anakin Obiwan and, Padme are captured in the Arena. Mace and, the other jedi go to save them. After there saved they go after Dooku. Then, somewhere down the line(after going through battles with Obiwan) Anakin finds out Dooku has found a force harvester. Which is designed to harvest the living force from other beings to power up a machine. Then, he gets out goes to the jedi temple(I think with obiwan Somehow Anakin meets up with Obiwan again. I forgot I haven't played the game in a while.) They get a history lesson from Mace about what the force harvester was used for. When, the sith wars were faught. The sith used the force harvester to power thier greatest weapon the grand reaper(err, something like that I forgot the name.) To destroy the jedi. One jedi found out how to resist the harvesters effects and, the jedi won the sith wars. Somehow Anakin finds out where to find the jedi that resisted the force harvester. They have a conversation via holgram in an ice cave. Basically the other jedi says don't underestemate the darkside. I thought I could resist it I was wrong(he looks up and, he has no eye's and a scar across his face.) Anakin says he's ready to be trained. He has more battles with Obiwan at his side and, a whole bunch of other stuff leads to Anakin leading(that's right I said leading) an assault where the Reaper is. He defeats the reaper and, Obiwan and, Anakin look at the battlefield. Obiwan basically says something like this is just one battle the war has not been won. That's the jist of it anyway.
***End spoiler warning***
***End spoiler warning***

If you sprinkle the love story into that then, Episode II would have been a lot better. <edit> And somehow working into the Death of his mother.</edit>

And bad it was. Sure the movies parallel each other in this regard, but I think the connection is weak with this compared to other parallels. Anakin tempting Padme to join him at the end of Sith is a strong parallel with Dooku trying to recruit Obi-wan in Clones. Of course, both of those are parallel with the famous scene in Empire. The use of (bad) romantic dialogue maybe similar in the movies, but Lucas didn't seem to make it a deliberate point to craft the scenes to bookend with each other. The similiarities are superficial at best.

It makes me sad that a fan doesn't know the name of Ulic Qel-Droma. Maybe we need an Original KotOR forum, too.

I personally don't have a problem with parallels. They work wonderfully if done right. The problem with the PT, is that if you parallel crap - it's still crap.
