Colink, I just overwrote the old files with the fix files and burned with Toast.

To Mac users out there, I totally recommend LiquidCD. It is fully featured FREEWARE. Toast is great, and I use it for a lot of stuff. But, an annoyance I have with Toast is that when you burn a UDF data dvd (DVD-ROM, not DVD Video) it automatically puts invisible "Desktop DB" and "Desktop DF" files at the root level. Unless you have your Mac set to view invisible files, you'd never know until you copy a disc for a Windows friend and he asks what the hell those files are. Anyway, LiquidCD burns in DVD-ROM data format without adding those files. Oh yeah, it's free...

BTW... I burned my usenet version using LiquidCD and it plays fine on my Mac and my piece-of-crap Apex stand-alone player...

Just finnished watching my successfiully shrinked copy of RTJ, and it looks alot better than what I thought it was going look for a SL disk. The documentary was even better than what I expected. I couldn't believe how much I did'nt know about Return of the Jedi. Thank you Jambe Davdar!

Hi Jambe and all,

Nice work on the movies, fascinating documentary, well i already told you all that a while ago. but i'm sure its nice to hear :-)

i was thinking, the torrent has been uploaded to many sites,
but its still the old one, how come the torrent isn't fixed ?
its real easy to do, it would save everyone the headache
if they didnt get the fix, including new downloaders.

First apply the fix on Jambe's computer (or the .torrent's uploader whoever wants to do it),
put the new ifos in there, then just create a new torrent and upload.

in the instructions, tell the people to delete the torrent in
their download list but keep the files they already have downloaded.
point this new torrent in the existing VIDEO_TS folder.
it will check the files and download only the new ifo.

The vob files haven't changed so no need to delete them and waste days redownloading them.

Torrent is built for things like that. easy as pie.

As for the files on rapidshare, just add one more .rar with paths to the downloads,
containing only the new .ifos to overwrite the ones in the other .rar files.

voila!

Quick and easy everyone will have the correct version.

good idea ?

thanks,
HT

Wow. I've taken a look at the youtube clips and am pretty impressed. I've followed the progress on and off but never really took a great interest until now. I'm preparing to grab a torrent so I'll give you some feedback once I've seen it. Looks like it'll be a lot of fun to watch on a lazy sunday afternoon.

And I really don't get people - esp star wars die hards who claim not to like 'jedi' or at least not as much as the others. Some of the moments in episode 6 are the best in the saga. The duel alone is the best by far.

Good work JD.

Jambe,

I just tried watching it and it froze and returned to the main menu in the middle of the ewok battle. is this the layer change? is there something wrong?

Go to the first post of this thread and download the fixed IFO set. The demonoid version has the chapter 23 end jump mistakenly set to main menu. JD's new IFO's fix this...

This is really a discussion for another thread-- we're here to deconstruct Jedi, not to praise it-- but OK.

*opinion* Jedi isn't a movie, it's a finale. If it satisfies, that's because it contains payoffs to the two previous films. It may indeed have some of the best moments (I vote space battle) but it's also got some of the absolute worst: Does ANYONE buy Han mooning around thinking Leia's going to shack up with Luke, especially AFTER they've reprised the "I love you/I know" scene? And even Mark Hamill has gone on record as thinking the 'sister' thing was a stretch. *end opinion*

Back to our regularly scheduled thread. Hey Jambe, can you share any stories about how some of the rarer material came your way, without getting anyone in trouble? The Arizona stuff is still blowing my mind.

Not so much mistakenly, more as unwillingly (at the turn of events). The error was unforseen in my eagerness to share this with you all, and i cant appoligise enough for the fluke up

I haven't downloaded the Demonoid torrent yet (the DL PAL version), but I have a question first. I did download the zip file with the IFO and BUP files in it. Do I download the torrent, then replace the appropriate files with the ones in the zip file entirely? I'd hate to overwrite something I shouldn't...

Sorry if this has been answered in detail, but I missed it.

Yes. I know its a pain to download some files from the torrent that are going to be overwritten in the end, but its not a great deal in terms of size to download anyway.

I wasn't meaning "mistakenly" with a bad connotation. Things happen. No big deal.

For people who followed the thread, i hope matters were corrected before burning a final copy of RTJ. For those who didn't follow events, i appologise for uploading a torrent that has a flaw in the code and i have tried to remedy the issue by amending the download description over at demonod, which, in a few cases may be to late for the few who grabbed a full copy and burned it to disk before being aware of an issue.

Didn't mean to sound off with your wording there MoveAlong (as i do respect the work you do for the OTforums). Its maybe that im just a little uptight because i've had a bit of flack on this issue already.

I recently downloaded the DL version that's been put up on Usenet (a.b.sw). This is a super-cool documentary. Even from the opening crawl rewinding, I was hooked and impressed. Great job, JD!

However, I was a bit disappointed to see that there are still several typos. For example, I've noticed two "it's" that should be "its" (no apostrophe), one "where" that should be "were", and at least one other thing that I can't remember from watching about half the movie last night.

If you ever decide to go to the trouble of re-rendering to fix anything else, lemme know and I'll proofread everything for you. I may suck as a video editor, but I am very, very good at editing text!

I had one guy, a good guy, no, a GREAT guy look over 'RTJ' and he picked up on lots of things that needed correcting. I did intend to send it to about three more QC guys to clear up any other mistakes, but to be honest I just gave in to the pressure that was mounting (some self imposed) to get this thing released. I also had lots of things going on in my personal life that meant I lost a little enthusiasm towards the end. When you have had your head in a project for so long, it is so easy to overlook the problems.

Just remember, I am not a professional, I did this for fun. I hope that you still managed to enjoy some of it. If you have the time to watch it all in one go (I certainly didn't!), then I would be grateful if you could let me know exactly where these errors are as I will be tidying up a few things in the coming weeks. Mostly for my peace of mind, but another release is likely for those who feel they need it.

Jambe, Great work on Building Empire. I finally got a copy of the DVD and wow, that is a lot of work. It takes me weeks just to edit together a few hours of vacation videos, so I can't imagine what you went through. Please keep it up.

I'm having no luck with the torrets or rapid shares on my PC for Returning to Jedi. Is there another way to get a copy, perhaps on DVD.

I hate to ask but it would mean so much!

Either way, great job with Building and best of luck on your new projects!

Hell, yeah!

I would be grateful if you could let me know exactly where these errors are

I flipped back through and found all the stuff I remembered from the first viewing:

0:09:34 - "it's existence" should be "its existence"
0:49:53 - "it's place" should be "its place"
0:57:05 - "climax..you" should be "climax... you"
1:07:54 - "what your going" should be "what you're going"
1:08:03 - "there will be more." should be "there will be more.'" (<-- add the closing single quote)
1:09:33 - "helmets where made" should be "helmets were made"
2:19:50 - "principle" should be "principal"

I think that's about it from me. If you've got a definitive list of subs added, I could whip through that, too, if you'd like.
