They're only $30 now? They were $40 when I bought mine (that was two years ago though).

Kaine, my comment wasn't meant to be BS. As Jambe has said, it's not really unfair for him to do PAL only releases if he doesn't have the resources (time, skill, etc) to do NTSC releases. My comment was in regards to it being only a PAL release. I'm sure that with time, someone will convert it to NTSC for those people that don't have players that can handle PAL.

Wow, only $30 now at Worst Buy?

I have just had a look on Amazon.com. They sell multi region players for around $40-$80. And they are Philips, Toshiba and Pioneer!

And you wouldn't be buying a new player just for my discs. It would open a whole new world (region) to you!

Just trying to help.

Dude, just buy the player without a service contract or anything else. It's the one thing Best Buy is good for. Go in, grab the box off the shelf, pay for it at checkout, and set it up at home. The worst that can happen is that it doesn't work "out of the box". That wouldn't be Best Buy's fault though.

Best Buy sucks at a lot of things, but for good, cheap DVD players, they rock. You can probably even find the same player at Circuit City for the same price (not much difference between Best Buy and Circuit City these days).

OK THERE IS A HALT ON ALL REQUEST FOR THIS PROJECT.

I have over 60 requests to burn and ship already.

Hopefully this will get the project out there for people to pay it forward, torrent it, newsgroup it and convert it.

Thanks
JD

Can't wait to get my hands on this. Hey Boba Feta, your Dark Jedi Covers are down on your site. Trying to get them from you.

If I may be so bold to suggest this. Jambe, send out copies to a few select people to have them PiF, torrent, rapidshare, usenet, etc whatever and the rest of us can get it from there. I would think even 20 copies would be far to many for one person to send out (let alone 60).

I can help seed, post it on usenet, and PiF to a few individuals (once I have a copy of course). Remember, those of us that get it can do our part to help distribute it.

When buying those multi-format player, I really like the Philips ones, they play almost everything you can throw into it including Divx. You can easily modify it to do multi regions too. I think we had a Cyberhome for about two weeks when we yossed it because it had problem playing dual layer discs.

I also have a Momitsu 880DX whish is a great upscaler and hads my favorite feature of x-y scaling.

Actually I'd think 20 would be a good amount to send out then any others can be pif'ed, torrented, etc.

Is it even feasible to ask how many people it will reach from those places. Fans on here may be waiting to get a copy while bootleggers post it for $/£10 a disk on e-bay.

Also on a personal note, this is just my opinion but Jambe dont get too miffed with the time you've spent infront of your Mac (researching,ripping,converting,editing,rendering,re-encoding,burning, and all that stuff most of us members do not understand) for the past 12 months (even longer infact if you throw Bulding Empire into the mix before that). You are on the verge of the rewards in the hearts of fans/followers that only a few elite members here have ever touched by giving us a project like this.

Perhaps, to some its going to be another DVD to add to the the collection, but to others, you are giving something to cherish and hold onto thats been a part of their lives in the past, and for the future that only you (and dare i include Lucas) can put thier name to. Yeah i sound like a fanboy, but this needs to be said.

Building Empire hit a market Lucas never delivered to after making the OT. I feel you made that happen with Building Empire for most of us true fans. You also get baggage as direct result from that success.

So although it may not feel like it at times, but you may never reach this high again..............

Do you have a model number you could quote at me? I'm getting kinda sick of my Cyberhome, and I'd love to be able to play Divx files.

I used to be very active on this forum. I’m not really anymore. Sometimes, people still want to get in touch with me about something, and that is great! If that describes you, please email me at [my username]ATgmailDOTcom.

Hi everybody. You’re all awesome. Keep up the good work.

Yeah, those are good. I went for the momitsu because it played mp4, divx and upscaled on component which is what I was using until recently. Oppo only upscales on HDMI.

My one grip is that the Momitsu is real finicky on some discs and is slow to load on some recorded discs.

Jambe Davdar, you mentioned the QC discs being dual layered, are there any plans for a single layer DVD-R? I don't have the ability to burn a dual layered DVD-R, I can only do single layer.

I've have been talking about this to other members on the last few pages of this thread. Some have concerns that the release would be SL and compromise on quality. Others are worried that they won't be able to make DL copies.

What I am going to do is release a DL version to the key players and if any of you want to use DVDshrink or DVD2one, you can do so.

Thanks
JD

I burn all my DL discs as DVD-ROM (not DVD-Video). They play perfectly in my Cyberhome when burned like that. You just have to be sure and create the VIDEO_TS and AUDIO_TS folders. Haven't had any trouble with discs as long as I did that. I do wish it could play Divx files, but it's fairly easy to convert those to DVD as well.

These were dual layer R3 discs. It would only play one layer of the Shaw Brothers remastered DVDs. And they were store bought.
