Hey Jambe,

If there's any sequences that are particularly troubling, give me a PM and I'll see what dirt I can dig up on them. I think text commentary is better than nothing at all, and I'd hate to see you cut stuff out. Drop me a line- it's worth a shot.

really, building empire was so awesome i think only expansion could help R.T.J - i wouldn't retract or change any methods that you used for B.E. although, i think that the O.T. versus S.E. stuff shouldn't be in the main feature - although a bonus (branching?) would be cool. perhaps a presentation on the changes to the film over the years would be warranted.

NTSC is a big plus for sure. lots of people in the US actually CAN play PAL, but the players are usually crappy.

also, a DVD9 (or two disc DVD5 set, whatever) would be preferred to "fitting" everything in. i'd rather have everything in the best quality (and i'd imagine you would, too)

thanks for the project!

Thanks for the offer Brimley. I am going to try my hardest to keep the whole film in there, I did it with Empire, I am sure with some hard graft that I can do it with Jedi. I just lose motivation sometimes. So it's good to hear that there are some eager fans awaiting this project. There is sooooo much information out there and probably enough in the 'Davdar Archives

If in the meatime you can dig up any interviews with minor cast members with relevant quotes, I would be grateful if you could contact me. I am also desperately trying to get hold of the OT version of 'Time and Again'. Unfortunately the one I mamaged to source was the PT version! Boo!

UPDATE:

- The Sandstorm sequence is complete. With use of all available stills and additional sound effects.
- Today I partially re-edited the Sail Barge Battle to fit the alternative John Williams track
- The main menu is complete
- DVD-ROM extras will be compromised to make sure that everything else fits on the disc in the best quality I can manage.
- Some VERY rare footage should be winging it's way to me very soon - I hope!
- An interview with a Jabba and Yoda puppeteer is in the pipeline
- Many old magazines have be trawled and LOTS of interviews have been found for use a 'text facts'
- Crawls from two drafts have been re-created
- A reconstructed scene or two are in the pipeline!
- Despite all this, things are moving slowly!

I am hoping get it done by october/novemeber. However, the end of the year might be more realistic. I am trying to get the intel version of FCP cheaply so that I can edit on the go. That would really speed things along.

Anticipation is reaching feaver pitch Jambe. You build these releases almost better than Lucas did with the SE's, and thankfully, you've delivered. Ever considered marketing at all?
We watch each post with a breath of anticipation, yet........i'm glad you take your time. This is another piece of Star Wars history you are producing here, so make sure you feel easy with the final release even if its not complete by the turn of the year (even at the expense of upsetting a few fans by me saying so that is).

I know from experience how time consuming these fan edits can be, it feels like I've been working on The Clones Revealed forever, and even now as I reach the end of the actual video editing, I know there's still a lot of work to do.

But however long it takes, I can't wait to see it!

FINISHED:

Episode III The Video Game - The Movie

I don't know if you noticed but for return of the jedi the album and movie have different lines, but only slightly.

C-3P0 in one version says " poor lando calrissian and chewbacca never returned from this awful place"

second version " poor lando calrissian and chewbacca never returned from that awful place"

Too bad I don't have a scanner Jambe because I have the YUMA daily sun pull out for revenge of the jedi.

I live in the u.s. does anybody in the u.s.a. on these boards have a scanner.

I only have a photo copy of cinefex 13 bought from there site as they sold all there stock on this issue, I am missing a couple pages in places as well.

I also have photocopies of cinefex 2 and 3 which are empire strikes back they never did star wars because the magazine did not exist then.

I also have 2 copies of american cinematographer return of the jedi, only 1 for empire, and two copies for star wars.

I also have those two starlog/ starburst in the u.k. articles I have the original and the reprint of marquand and fisher.

Anybody have the original return of the jedi bantha tracks issues? I only have a printout of a mark hamill interview form artoo's news which site is no longer up.

The cinefex are getting collector's prices now as they are extremely scarce, but i think american cinematographer put up their issues in an star wars archive on there site.

Thanks for all that info mate!

Easy on those audio differences. I don't want all of my secrets given away. But yeah, there are several dialogue differences in 'The Story of'!

I've counted at least eight scenes that have different dialogue or takes!

You know, the more I look at this commentary-doco style, the more I think the ROTJ resources warrant a proper, straight forward documentary. I would love to tackle it to be honest. I have made a couple of straight documentaries in the past and to do one on a subject that I love would be great.

The only problem with a straight documentary would be the inability to show so much detail. It would however, have a much broader appeal than say 'Building Empire', which clearly caters for those of us that have watched the film many, many times.

Just thinking aloud.

BTW, I managed to get another three hours of work in yesterday. Things are shaping up.

Ell, I wonder if that's on those Galaxy Trading Cards I have burried in my crawl space? No doubt, your picture of it will be larger. If you could scan it, that would be great.

By the way, release date is in only a few months, so... Let me see those Covers!

Is Luke supposed to be working in Obi-Wan's hut, or is this a different location altogether?

I think that's the artists interpretation of the scene. Unless Obi Wan had the 'Extreme Makeover' boys visit whilst he was away on the Death Star.

Thanks Ell!

If anything, it looks like the interior of the Falcon. Probably not canon in any way though.

P.S. I have all the Cinefex issues, if you still need scans.

Calling all Star Wars fans!

I am still looking to obtain a copy of MSNBC's Time & Again.

The programme takes a look at the Original Trilogy. I think it was originally broadcast in 2000, but has been shown since as I have a partially recorded copy (recorded by my sister with a very dodgy aerial signal).

It actually contains some behind the scenes footage that I have never seen anywhere else before, including, someone trying to perfect the Gammorean walk without the suit on. And more footage of Lucas discussing Sy Snootles with the creature shop people. Additionally there are several interviews that could easily be implemented as commentary tracks given the right editing. It's such a resourceful show, it would be a shame not to include it in my project.

I did recently think I had tracked down a copy but unfortunately it was another episode that looked at the Phantom Menace.

So if anybody has it, I would love to get a copy!

Thanks
JD

I have a copy. But as I stated in the General forum, I dont have any way of digitizing it. It's on VHS.

Well, I´m note sure if you want to give this out of your hands.
In Germany you can go into a copy shop and transfer a VHS to a DVD. I think somethink like that should be possible somewere in your country. It would be the easiest and cheapest way.

It's not me that needs it though. So I'm not certainly forking over to convert it. hehe. But I'd be glad to try and make some arrangements.
