A moment of silence as we mourn the project that promised so much.

The Movie Memories audio was planed from the project's start, and was listed in the extras section in the original post. That's the only reason why I did not acknowledge you. But I am not too sure that it works very well as a commentary track. As an audio book, Shatner does a lot of reading in the 3rd person, and his delivery is very wooden. It needs major editing, and I need to find the time to work on it more. I have had the 2 audio books on my PC for close to a year in cut up bits.
It just dawned on me tonight as I was looking through some of my assorted Trek claptrap, that Nimoy, Takei, Nichols, and Koenig all have autobiographies with audio versions. I haven't listened to them in quite a while, but I am pretty sure at least Nimoy and Koenig had some decent discussion of their STTMP experiences. Have you had an opporunity to listen to any of those, Mr. FanFiltration? The versions I have are on audio cassette (which I suspect is the only way they were released back in the late '90s).

This sounds like a great idea, but right now this project is far too overloaded with extras. I'm going to first release my Special Longer edit with most of the extras I have ready now. In a few months I will release my fan edit of The Motion Picture, and at that time we can include more extras such as the one you suggested above.

Are you going to be fixing visual mistakes when you do your fan edit?

Yes, the Special Longer Version with a huge amount of extras is still on the way. The edit is DONE, we just need to finish up the menus (We are just using basic menu) and the extras. As this is a spare time project, it is going to have to take a back seat to other things in my life. We hope to get this out SOON.

Naw, I'll wait. Good job on getting the cut done by the way! Hope you got it backed up somewhere safe!

He has just spent eightteen months redesigning and refitting the Special Longer Version. How in the name of hell do they expect to have her ready in twelve hours?

Mister Wookie. A BluRay object that contains only the theatrical edition of the Motion Picture is less than 2 months away from this BluRay player. The only edition in interception range is the Special Longer Version. Ready or not, she launches in 12 hours.
Nice. Very nice.

Where is this HD version of the theatrical cut of Star Trek-The Motion Picture?
I know that it's coming out in Blu-Ray next month. Has it existed in mkv, avi or mov form before now at that high of a resolution?
I've seen a site from a guy in Amsterdam (I think) who claims he has a 25-30GB HD mkv file of the theatrical version. Does anyone know of this and where it may be obtained?
I have found an mkv file online of the theatrical version which runs at 1280x545 pixels and is 2:10:13 (it doesn't include the Ilia's Theme Overture at the beginning - just starts with the Paramount logo and then goes in the title). This file is much higher resolution than DVD and I was thinking about cleaning up the visual imperfections and making a complete version combined with the special longer version's widescreen footage from the deleted/unused section of the Director's Edition DVD and doing that for myself. I can live with the soundtrack in whatever form it is, but I want the extra footage and the original as good as it can be. Interesting to find this site and what you intend. I thought people would think I was nuts for what I planned. Apparently, I'm not alone.

I'm happy to PiF once this gets airborne.

May I also know where to obtain it? What are the rules on this site regarding posts like this?

If I remember correctly, I downloaded it from a newsgroup two years ago. But I don't think that it's still there.

That BluRay edition of The Motion Picture is less than two months away from Earth. We need to intercept while it still is out there.

It was the Blu-ray imbalance that caused the delay-hole in the first place. It'll happen again if we don't correct it.

"She'll launch on time, sir, and she'll be ready."
We are looking to finish her up this weekend. Look for a report Sunday night. Due to space limitation on the DL disk, we are picking the best extras to go with this edit.

Here's the God's honest truth - I am more interested in the FanFiltration STTMP project than I am in the new Star Trek movie.
There. I said it.
There is no comparison.

I concure my friend, I do indeed concure!
I'm still not WILD about a longer version... Admittedly, I've only seen the Director's Cut, so I don't know what's missing. I'm more excited to see the Fan Edit of it.
