Reads like a great bunch of programs.  Presentation sounds reminiscent of the SW Rarities compilations or other compilation of US RotS material which got fan made.  Looking forward to checking it out, love seeing how other countries present the Star Wars phenomenon.

Generally: many of the interviews although they have an overdub, you can still make out the english underneath.

Here's some random bits which I found interesting:

TVFocus
Around 12:50 when George is previewing Grievous ideas, "If we went droid" comment, missed that the first time around.

11.5. arte KurzSchluss - Das Magazin 0:13:45
This views as a great program even without understanding German. Focuses on his early works. Don't think i've seen an equivalent program in english. They cover 'Look at Life' and 'Electric Labyrinth' What is the gist of the segue (the scenes of Cleopatra, etc.) I guess those are some shots from when Lucas worked on Coppola's set? (beware when they get to THX-1138 they go through the history, but use footage from the special edition) and a bit of Graffiti, before jumping to Ep3.

another female broadcaster who purrr'd when checking out Anakin. (clip 3 right after the RotS vader towards the end.)

Like the kids show, just wish they showed more reactions shots, since all the SW costume stuff is unusual for the average person, but at that age you believe it. and Daniels (with original 3po head) talks in english yet the shows not, translationally awkward.

There's a clip (in chapter 7) of a SE era GL (blue flannel) interview around 14:30, 15:40, 16:40 (w/ character mascot around...)

The local 501st show up in many clips, so if you are into that aspect of fandom again this disc might interest you. Also the beginning and end have new clips from the fan film, Tydirium. http://www.tydirium-derfilm.de/

Thanks for preserving and making available these bits of SW history.  What took place in the many years between making this and putting it out?

The video quality is great and the DVD menu is clean and informative.

You are welcome 'none'!

Well, there were several reasons to hold the release back at first place: Copyright Issues, no Usenet Account, bad Upload Speed. But somehow George seems to tolerate these releases in some way.

I will try to release Volume 2 until the end of the week. It contains another 60min of TV-Footage from that time area.

Volume 2 contains the long format programs which for the most part rely on stock footage, but they do contain bits which I haven't come across elsewhere.  The first program is a general history of SW, which relies on Empire of Dreams, merchandising segments, those shots from '77.  What's new here is part of the McCallum interview which was done around the Berlin premiere.  In the Lucas interview he reiterates, "I'm not as involved, my interests go elsewhere, but i'm still at the center of the hurricane".  Lots of fun fan costume stuff from that premiere, an interesting bedsheet like dress on one of the fans.  and for a giggle, hear the 'Absolutely Nothing' line from Spaceballs in german.  Also they have a promotion with the difficult question:

What is the new character in Episode 3?  General Grevious or General Madine

The second half hour is the Making Of, which relys on the video which were posted on the starwars.com.  But of interest again haven't seen anywhere else is a Portman interview before she had her head shaved for Vendetta.  Maybe the long form of this interview if it emerges will have something interesting.  Also, maybe this was from teh web features but I don't remember it, a clip of Lucas and Christensen (during the filming of the Mustafar segement) where Lucas is informting Hayden of how the DV transformation sequence will be shot.  Otherwise clip heavy segments on weapons, costumes and digital filmmaking, and more from the Berlin premiere.

The third clips is an quarter hour segment on merchandising.  Nice piece focusing on Hasbro's 3D scanner tech, how they sculpt the figures and toys.  One interview implies how the flip up wing design of the jedi starfighter might have originated from the toy design.  Also a clip of Lucas reiterating that if you don't go after the people who mis-license intellectual property the original owner loose it.  and the last segment is the MTV Awards Mustafar parody subtitled.

Again great to see another set of material from this time frame.  Many thank R2D2 for putting these out.

So are these in German, English, Both? I want to grab these but obviously not if they are not in English.

Author
Time

They are predominantly german (70%), but the interviews are often english (30%), but they overdub with more german (25%), at times they don't, they use subtitles (5%), so overall very little english by itself. (95%)   Sie wollen nicht, aber tun wollen, aber vielleicht nicht gerne

OK Thank you for the answer, now I know I do not want them, Thanks anyways.
