My Review of the Force Unleashed plot based on the graphic novel (SPOILERS WARNING I SPOIL THE PLOT)

So Basically this thing is not even in Continuity with Revenge of the Sith and Completely ruins the original trilogy.

Much like the Clone Wars movie shows Anakin having a pawaan when he never was intended to have one, until Lucas changed his mind when Revenge of the Sith was several years behind him.

Okay on to the Force Unleashed Bashing. Vader and Palpatine Create the Rebellion to ensnare Bail Organa and Mon Mothma.  LOL.  Just like Sidious created the fake seperatist movement.

Okay Padme created the Rebellion in the deleted scenes of Revenge of the Sith.

And the secret apprentice never was secret it was palps idea to use him to ensnare the rebels.

Vader says something to him like i intend to throw down the emperor with my apprentice but he is not you.  Which Implies that at this point he knew he had a son, and this is two years before the battle of yavin.  SO did he know Luke was on Tatooine?

“Always loved Vader’s wordless self sacrifice. Another shitty, clueless, revision like Greedo and young Anakin’s ghost. What a fucking shame.” -Simon Pegg.

Wow, I didn't expect FU to be so messed up. I only thought it's packed with over-the-top Force effects and squeezes in another unnecessary character (DV apprentice)...

I saw the original theatrical release of the Old Trilogy on the big screen and I'm proud of it...

Seriously now i want to read the making of book just to figure out how they came up with this ludicrous plot.  I mean it is along the lines of the Silly Politics in the prequels.   That this is Lucas canon as a missing chapter in between Episodes III and IV is hard to believe.  But then again Lucas lives in Bizarro world where the 2004 dvd set is perfect and the gout is the best he can do for fans of the oot.

I mean Seriously watch Clone Wars 2008 movie, Indiana Jones Kotcs and read the plot for force unleashed and play the game.  A  Teenager in high school could come up with a better story than that.  No Scratch that i could have written a better story in grade school using crayons, george lucas is crazy if he thinks this is good storytelling.

Complete Lack of Imagination ON LUCARTS and Lucas part.  Cliches, rehashed plots.  This is the Kinda Bad Star Trek became when it was overly merchandised and milked for every last ounce of anything resemlbing originality.

Lucas should have quit after Return of the Jedi in 1983, end of story.  I could care less that i am attaking the godhood of the tfn crowd saga fans, they will call blaphemy on my point of view.

The Last good thing to come out of the Star Wars universe was the Zahn Trilogy and Kotor game.  But if i had to give those up to be spared the prequels and special editions and further ruining of the EU by Lucash i would gladly do so.

I get the impression you hated this book before you even turned the first page. Now I'm not going to argue because yes, star wars these days is a bit of a mess, I'm just wondering WHY you read it when you make your hatred of modern day star wars so apparent. Wouldn't it have been wiser of you to make a neat detour around this?

"Vader says something to him like i intend to throw down the emperor with my apprentice but he is not you.  Which Implies that at this point he knew he had a son, and this is two years before the battle of yavin.  SO did he know Luke was on Tatooine?"

The actual exchange was this -

Starkiller: Then you never planned to destroy the Emperor

Darth vader: Not with you

That could be taken a few ways, You simply interpreted in in a way that supports your views. Starkiller was simply a pawn. All sith betray each other eventually.

I found the graphic novel to be entertaining. I DO welcome your views but my impression right here is that you are almost glad that it doesnt measure up to your standards so you can gloat about it all.

LOL, loved that crayons bit ;)

But the whole thing is nothing to laugh about. We - the loyal customers - are witnessing a serious decay in the quality of the product line we liked to buy. Normally we could choose another manufacturer or start making own - better - versions of these products. The problem is that G.L. has the monopoly on SW. (E.g.: I proposed to few people making "independent" SW game or a comic book that would unfold alternative prequel story, but everyone knows we would soon get "cease&desist" letter from LFL lawyers...)

My solution? If they can't come up with things of satisfactory quality (from my POV), time to stop giving them my money. Too bad there're not many people who have such strong resolve as I have (e.g.: I haven't seen IJ4 yet because I think this movie shouldn't have been made in its current form&style), otherwise G.L. would've already felt the clear message from his clients (read: drop in the income flow).

@Johnny Ringo: I think skyjedi2005 simply fooled himself, basing on a strong desire to see some good SW product, to read this book, as if to "give FU another chance to redeem itself". If we really really want something to be good, we often give it a chance despite having strong initial bad feelings about it (like me and "The Witcher" movie, har-har...)

Ok first of all, the deleted scenes from ROTS are out of continuity. (Escept Yoda's arrival) But Shakti was captured where as in the CN CW Miniseries, he left her on the planet and she's in comics/novels of EU and in TFU. So basically, the Rebellion's creation isn't done in continuity due to it being a deleted scene and being in TFU. The Force Unleashed had a great storyline, something we haven't seen in Star Wars since ROTJ (putting ROTS aside) Also, Vader doesn't know if Luke's alive. Did he say that? No. "You assume too much" He knew he was going to do it since ROTS and he also mentioned doing it with Padme which means he wanted to do it with someone close to him and maybe he wanted Obi-Wan who was like his brother? Maybe he did know that there was someone out there. Don't forget how Anakin can see into the future. Palps knowing about him was a great twist and a nice way to have complicated plots and plots at different levels which is something some of the SW movies had missed (although AOTC did have it, it also lacked way more like a good romance plot, a good villain, good acting on Anakin's part, good music [besides across the stars]) Again, TFU was an OK game but had a great storyline. Watch the cinematics, they're on YouTube and are an hour long. I like them a lot, and feel it was the perfect transition between PT and OT. I think those saying that it had a crap storyline are just "OT Extremists". Seriously, the plot was great, get over it.

I just wanted to point out how Lucas is lazy about the Continuity of his own work.

When Bantam Books, and Del Rey, as well as Dark Horse Comics under the Lucas Licensed Publishing Program at least up until Episode 1 strived hard to do in the EU and did it very well.  They were Continuity buffs.

The original trilogy and prequels don't mesh well because Lucas went back and changed story points and Character interactions and so forth that were not Alluded to in the scripts or the oot.

Yoda was Supposed to Be Kenobi's master.  You had to be a Jedi Master to train A jedi Knight.  This whole padawaan thing  is rediculous as well as the midiclorians.

You now only have to be Knighted to have an apprentice completely wrong in reference to the oot.  Anakin was barely knighted when he went down the dark path there is no way he would be a master.

To Top it all off the Biggest and most laughable thing ever is that the Emperor Created the Rebellion.  THe Biggest What the Fuck moment in star wars history.  I wish i could take a time machine back to 1977 or 1980 and tell them that the emperor Created the rebellion.  WTF?  is what they would say.  Come again get the fuck outta here you are fucking kidding me.

Ok, Anakin getting a padawan was bullshit, which is why I hate Clone Wars. But that's another story homeboy. And Obi-Wan was trained by Yoda before he became Qui-Gon's padawan. And yes only a master should be able to take on a padawan but even that isn't a definite law in the OT, which is how Obi-Wan getting Anakin wasn't a problem. And seriously, we aren't talking about the PT here, we're talking about TFU. I feel you're just REALLY biased against anything besides OT. And I encourage everyone to go watch the Force Unleashed cinematics on YouTube:

Part 1: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GssQ_kaV8-4

Part 2: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WWIGeYSZ4q4

Part 3: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Us4Cp7YT05s

Part 4: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i8qg8MseDKY

Part 5: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vigIhaBUjks

Part 6: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mRK6U9tZxyI

Alternate Ending: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MNIU-9X5Eso

Seriously, the story is great, the romantic dialog is much better than anything from the films and it's a great tie to the PT and the OT. I also love how Dark it is.

One of the things I appreciate about TFU is that Darth Vader is EVIL. By the time this rolls around, the whiney doofus that was Anakin of the PT is GONE, and replaced by the frightening, malicious, and inhuman figure of the Dark Side we know from ANH/ESB. Just for that, combined with the enthralling storyline and graphics, I can forgive the flaws of TFU.

The few flaws:

Marice Brood: I hated her character. I wanted to punt her head the whole time

The Emperor: The voice actor sucked a LOT of the time. Too bad IM didn't return

Vader's Voice: Sometimes the delivery of the Vaderish voice was bad. Although the acting on his part was fine unlike Palpy's.

The Force Unleashed is by far the BEST Star Wars product released since 1983's Return of The Jedi!  I enjoyed this game more than all three prequels and can see this as canon. I didn't have a problem with any of it. My only regret was that this didn't become a movie and we got the atrocious prequels instead! skyjedi2005

Marice can go to hell. She was so annoying! >:(

EDIT: I can remember one more downside to the game, when it ends it's pretty much over... unless you have the Wii which gives you a versus arcade game after with ALL of the Star Wars characters and one or two playable missions from every film (I-VI). If the Wii features were available for all of these and you could do some sort of an online multiplayer where you just go around killing each other with the force (think Battlefront II) that would've been better. It's a fantastic rental and a good game.

I watched the Youtube videos all the way through. I have to admit, it was very interesting and well done. The story was far better than the PT. Still a lot of things about it that sucked. I found the whole Palpatine "creatiing the Rebellion thing" not to be as far fetched as it immediately sounds. He was simply trying to get all his enemies in one place. I still think it is kind of silly and shrinks the galaxy even more. Even less likely is that the Rebellion would have taken 18 years to begin. I also never imagined it taking that long for Darth Vader and Palpatine to hunt down the Jedi and destroy them, as there are quite a few of them left at the beginning of this story which takes place only two years before Star Wars.

Proxy was also a dumb idea, we always see holograms as very transparent and not making perfect images, and yet Proxy can make himself look like anybody perfectly. Seems like these droids would have been used by the empire to dispatch and replace important figures in the Rebellion to bring it down faster.

I did like younger Leia making an appearance, that was pretty cool.

Biggest problem with the whole thing is the existance of another "choosen one-uber powerful-Jedi wunderkind" Was he concieved by midiclorines as well? Why was this little kid so unbelievably powerful? And why did Vader train him all that time, and bother lying to him about bringing down the Emporer only to have him create a Rebel Alliance.

In the end, I would have much rather had a story like this for the last chapter of the PT trilogy. I always imaged Anakin having turned to the Darkside well before the third movie, with the last part being about him hunting down the Jedi in a time period well after the birth of his twins. I think EP3 should have had Bail Organa and others organizing the Rebellion, and shown the Empire's tyrany over the galaxy. Kind of sad they can make something so much better than anything in the PT just within the cutscenes of a silly button masher video game.

I'm thinking if this game sells well enough maybe we will get a film version. It's difficult to imagine Clone Wars being the last Star Wars movie.
