I was always curious, when ppl in countries other then the US look at a map, do they see the US as on big country, or is it split into the states? Just wondering...could someone help w/ that plz?

Not that I know for sure, but I would assume one big country. We see Mexico as one big country on our maps despite them actually being divided into states.

I figured that, but sometimes we see Canada divided up, & sometimes the US is one big country on my maps.

I'm from Brazil, so here goes my answer:

It depends on the map, and on how detailed it is. I do own a few maps where the states are shown, but usually you'll find one, big US with a big dot marking where Washington DC is.

Maybe it's because of a difference in perception of provinces (Canada) as opposed to states (U.S. and Mexico)? I dunno.

Thanks ric. I always imagined they'd show some other key city as well, like New York or LA.

& that could be Bossk, especially since there are so few of the provinces in comparison.

Again, it depends on the map. Some show only W-DC, others may show NY, LA, and other cities...

BTW, do american maps show all 26 brazillian states? I guess not...

No, actually most of the close-up maps I've seen of South America were in Spanish, thus kind of segregating Brazil from the focus of the map. But, usually, there are many cities labeled.

I've never seen a map showing the states in any nations other than the U.S. (unless you consider Canada's provinces to be "states"). So, no, Ric.
