Puggo GRANDE - 16mm restoration (Released) — Page 32

I'm sorry, I couldn't read 31 pages right now and I wanted to ask this:

I've read that the Laserdisc masters had slight changes from the theatrical editions, that are preserved by Puggo.

Can anyone guide me to read somehwere, what these changes are?

I thought that the Laserdisc had no change whatsoever in comparison to the theatrical films.

Bonus DVD's were the 1993 masters.

All Laserdisc and home video releases before DVD were the 1981 version, when the "Episode IV A New Hope" title was added. Sound mixes have varied depending on what elements have been used. Ben Burtt did another mix just for home video in the mid 80's. Another home video sound mix was done in 1993, (the first official THX certified release) that incorporated elements from the 70mm mix.

But the DVD with the theatrical cut (which comes from the laserdisc master) doesn't have the Episode IV title.

That means either that the Laserdisc is the 1977 version, or that it's the 1981 version but they removed the title.

What is it of the 2?

edit: i also just saw, that the "R" in "rebel spies" in the opening text, is not capital (as in the 1981 version).

also:

"During the search of Mos Eisley for the droids, the stormtrooper's lines have been changed from "Alright, check this side of the street. The door's locked. Move on to the next one." to "Alright, check that side of the street. It's secure. Move on to the next one.""

In the DVD it's the first one.

So again, that suggests that the laserdisc is the 1977 version?

IIRC, the original crawl is selectable via seamless branching, and some DVD players may default to it for some reason.

The crawl was added to the DVD from a 1977 print. Why didn't they use the full print for the whole DVD is beyond me

George would have had to buy the smaller Jacuzzi if they did that. ;)

But as I've said, I saw other thing too in the DVD that are from the 1977 version according to that wiki article.. Not just the text.

So, it seems it's the 1977 version!

The "Blast it Biggs" line and the "The door's locked" line are from the 1977 version (according to the wiki article).

And these are the lines that I hear in the DVD too.

There's more than one 1977 version!
You might have heard "Blasted Biggs", "door's locked" or alternatives
depending upon which theater you visit in 1977.

However, in practice you must take into account the “fuckwit factor”. Just talk to Darth Mallwalker…

There are three different sound mixes from 1977. All have different lines and even certain sounds from each other.

 I wasn't born then. :-p

I just read what the article said, that those lines were changed to something else for the 1981 version.

I have a 16mm reduction print here, I really have to get around to viewing Grande to see if it is from the same 'master' print.

I posted a thread about this, and I've PM'd Boba Feta, but haven't gotten an answer. Does anyone have box and disc art for Puggo Grande and Puggo Strikes back?

I see numerous places where it was posted earlier in this (and the PSB) thread, but in every instance I could find the links are now dead, so I'm hoping we can get a new posting of the art! Thanks so much! I really like these version and want to have nice box art on my shelf, and to have my discs look nice!

Here's where I keep Puggo's cover art Puggo covers.

Thanks for the covers link.

BTW, was the Audio on the 16mm the mono mix?

My 16mm print is mono, but it is just the stereo mixed down to mono, not the theatrical mono mix.

The 16mm print used for Grande had also the theatrical Dolby Strereo mix in mono.

The real theatrical mono mix heard on Grande was actually taken from a Swedish 16mm print.

It's also the unrefined opening day print version of the film you see on Grande before the mono mix was shipped. See here: http://originaltrilogy.com/forum/topic.cfm/Print-variations-in-77-Star-Wars/topic/14705/

We want you to be aware that we have no plans—now or in the future—to restore the earlier versions.

Oh wow, I must track that down then, I would love to have the mono to go with my 16mm print.
