Hmm, I see... does TMPGEnc DVD Author do subs or not?

No, and that's why they're gone.

I use DVDAUTHOR for most stuff but I don't know how to do menus with it yet. It at least keeps all the sub streams.

If I could figure out its weird xml/assembler language, I'd use it to make the menu for the final XP77.

There are some GUIs for dvdauthor that help with menu creation.

Maybe you want to check these out.

To date I haven't figured out DVD Styler either... >.>;

Simple stuff is easy enough in DVD Lab but I don't know about audio menus and such, not to mention it really hogs the computer while compiling, unlike DVD Author. <.<;

Well, I like what you've done with it, but you *have* to degrade the new elements much more than that! It's jarring, to say the least...but other than that its kinda cool to hear. The dropouts are annoying, and there also seem to be some sync that work themselves out after a while, then reappear... Other than that, not bad...but I wouldn't replace my old DVDs with this one at this state.

After the last break it's completely out of sync for the remainder of the film. But for a prototype it's nicely done. I'm hoping that for a final disc, the sync issues are completely worked out. What needs to be done is to line up the track with the audio from the "Mysterious Mysteries" edition. Once that is done, you'll be assured of proper synchronization.

Well at least the reversed surround channels have been addressed.

Yeah, I lined it up with the Dr. Gonzo version (had an AVI of it sitting around).

As soon as I have the source material, I'm going to put it together, seeing if I can't get those damn hardsubs to come with me (rerip?), and reauthor - might have to futz a bit with the menus, since I don't know what I'm doing there... (DVD Styler, prolly what I'm going to use.)

I'm trying to figure out why the TMPGENC-authored DVD works and the dvdauthor'd one doesn't. The dvdauthor'd one is one chapter (possibly the problem, I will check that). I need the subtitles to work or I won't be able to put them onto the finished version.
Sounds good. Now all we need is a version with the original mono *and* stereo mixes...
As I said before, someone did one. I have it lying around ... pre-ANH crawl. Sub-TR47 transfer, but decent. Used clips from it in Deleted Magic. You use the audio button to switch from stereo to mono soundtracks.

Got it from Sluggo ... it's not something that's supposed to be widely passed around though. Hasn't been torrented.

EDIT: Oop! Just noticed this thread ... Looks like you're talking about the same pre-ANH mono edit that Sluggo gave me. Haven't read the whole thread yet.

If you have since had the time to read that thread thoroughly, you will see that "The Creators" have accepted that that version of the original trilogy (now called the "EditDroid" version) is now in the open and is being bistributed both as a torrent and on the newsgroups.

ANH has already been posted and the other two films will probably follow shortly.

However, there are two versions of ANH. The version with the screenshots that have been posted here as well as an earlier version with 3 soundtracks, including mono.

If it is this mono version you have, you own a copy of the holy grail, the missing link that many are seeking.........................

By the way, I love what you are doing with Deleted Magic. Keep up the good work and I look forward to seeing it finished .
