Should GL have made the ST and then do the PT later

What do you think, should George lucas have done the Sequel Trilogy and then do the Prequel trilogy at a later date???

I personally dont want any sequels should they happen

I think personnally George maybe should have done the Prequels in the late 80s and early 90s because one of the issues I have with the prequels, is the prequels look so more advanced than the Originals and dont believe everything would go that to pot in 20 years under the Empire, then use the technology available for any possible sequels but he would still be updating the things even then

The problem was Luke and co may have not been old enough, and I am sure Harrison Ford wouldnt have returned, depending on what Lucas wanted to do, and Lucas has now left the end of Jedi pretty final with the Emperor dead (which I believe wasnt always intended for Jedi) and the planets celebrating the overthrow of the Empire(with Yub Yub something may have been possible) EU or no EU explainations..............

He obviously should have made the sequels first. That was what was being reported before the release of the prequels. and no matter how much he has messed up star wars i'd still love to see his vision of the sequels, the outlines exists but have not been made public even in fan's collections. If I had copies of all the scripts/outlines i'd donate them to the starkiller website.

Amen. Too bad it's never going to happen. Star Wars will keep going until George dies or nobody cares anymore. Which is sad. But there's a catch. Provided Star Wars is still profitable, I wouldn't be too surprised if it continued after his death. On the other side of the coin, since Star Wars is technically indepedent, George could continue pumping time and money into it even if nobody cared anymore. Which is even sadder.

Not that that is going to stop you from dreaming… Only in this case, Gaffer is actually a guy.

Rick McCallum, Jim Ward, and Steve Sansweet will keep it going after his death.

That would be good. It wouldn't hurt anything. Though, I don't know how much longer Kersh will be around.

It would have been quite entertaining to hear Harrison Ford do a commentary as well.

wasnt kasdan listed on the pre release dvd box as doing the commentary? what happened there?

Hmm, strange. He would also have been great to listen to, since he wrote the majority of the ESB script.

More like should have done the Prequels, can you imagine what they would been like if they worked with George on them, im sure we wouldnt have had so many people saying how bad they are....

I'll admit, it would have been nice if Kersh would have done some work on them.

I always thought the major problem with the PT instead of the ST trilogy would be the characters. When you make a set of movies, and people love the characters, it is very hard to make another set of characters that are just as much loved in that same universe. Think of Back to the Future prequel about Doc Brown, but no Marty McFly? Think of the Matrix about just Morpheus and no Neo? Characters, characters, characters, that is what draws people to love movies.

The PT for me and alot of older fans had very inferior characters to the OT. Padme was always a weak character compared to Leia, Anakin for many including myself was miscast, and Lucas always portrayed him as the anti-hero, so we would always feel sorry for him. There was no Han Solo character, in which the PT desperately needed.

The ST would have reunited the big three from the OT, but could Lucas stike lightning in a bottle for another three movies? The more I think about it, he should have stopped after ROTJ.

The ST would have been a better way to go than the PT because E 1 and 2 are mostly a waste of film and hard-drive space. What's better, Careless directing, sterile design, boring characters, jar jar *shakes head*

or..

Rebuilding a republic... Han, Luke, his brother threepio, Leia, Chewie, R2, and their many adventures. It's the characters, their stories, what they think, feel, do and have to deal with that work so well. Vague concepts like, what was luke like when he was racing all over the place shooting womprats in his t-16, can't and wouldn't work on their own because it lacks an interesting family dynamic these characters we love have. And there's no jar jar too, yay.
He big in nothing important in good elephant.

I am really opposed to the idea of a ST, as I think it would ruin the story arc that Eps 1-6 provide. A 7-9 would seem to much like an extension, rather than part of the films story arc. It might function well as a TV series, however.
