I’ve been upscaling and deblocking “Privateer 2: The Darkening” Full Motion Video sequences, from the original .TGV video files. These are 320x132 @12 fps highly compressed videos.
There’s a better 30fps VHS capture of the cinematics, but unfortunately it doesn’t have all of the sequences.

Unfortunately the link does not work anymore? Can you send me an example? Or all of them? I just introduced Privateer 2 to my son and try to make him aware how cool the game really is. He started playing just yesterday evening and now i started to play the game again myself! 😄
Can you actually replace the original TGV files by the better ones in game? Or will that fail?
I managed to incorporate those scenes into a full edit, based on a YouTube video of the entire “game movie”.
It’s not bad, but it becomes boring after a few minutes, since you only follow a single character.
As for quality .tgv are the best source. I remastered the VHS footage to match them regarding color and brightness and it looks decent (for what it is).
