Princess Leia hair and make up possibility

Hello

As far as I have heard we all know from Carrie Fisher that her hairstyles where made up from scratch on hear head daily for the movie.

Why do some people continue to claim that such hairstyles are absolutely and physically impossible to do?

Thank you!

I can give one answer and one answer only to this question of yours.

I don't know.

Are you talking about the OT or the ST?   She has blonde hair now... so either we'll be seeing a blonde Leia in the ST or she'll be wearing a wig/hair pieces.  If you're talking about the OT, then I don't know.  I thought they used her real hair and hair pieces.

I'm pretty sure Carrie Fisher actually wore hair extensions for her look in ANH. At least that's what I recall reading in the Making Of.

The style was actually meant to mimic the hairstyle of a character in the old Flash Gordon Sunday comics (check out my avatar).

I have also heard that this comes from Hopi girls :)

The main thing that makes me confused is that some people claim that they have tried hard to remake those hairstyles and consider it impossible.

However we all here in good mind and memory see that she actually wears all those hairstyles :)

Is it her own hair or a combination of natural hair and some hair extensions maybe that she wears during the whole trilogy?

Are there known ways of making exactly those true hairstyles or they did not survive till the present day? I suppose it should all be documented in some make up charts and such things so if one tries hard enough all that can be found and after spending those famous hours on that those true hairstyles can be made up without socks and such stuff. Do you think that is correct?

For example I have recently been at a high school graduation party and there I have seen many girls with hairstyles certainly not less complex than ones Leia had. In everyday life all those girls have nice long hair but still it is nothing unusual. They also claim that they have spent lots of time making those from their own natural hair.

So we can see at least that such things are possible outside the movies in our life :)

The Hopi women's hairstyle thing seems to be an afterthought on Lucas's part; he never mentions it in interviews from the time of the original 1977 SW.

Hopi hairstyles were definitely considered for Padme in TPM, and the idea that Lucas "always wanted them" (where have I heard that before?) probably comes from that point in time. But as far as Leia goes, it was pretty clearly Flash Gordon all the way as the principal (if perhaps not only) influence.

So are they possible to do from scratch out of live hair on top of somebody's head?

Are there any descriptions pictures documents any stuff to do so?
