Preserve your avatar, title, and/or signature, plus give an explanation

Author
Time

So we often associate a particular online friend with his (or her) avatar, as well as the title and signature.  When that changes, we may not realize that we're still talking to the same person and it can be quite jarring.  Sometimes we realize we miss the old version of you, and if nothing else, we'd like to reminisce a bit.  I don't expect anyone to share every old detail, but if you wanted to preserve your unique characteristics for all to refer to with fond remembrance, plus provide an explanation if you like, we'd all think it's just swell, by golly!

Here's my current title and signature for future posterity:

I'm not ready for the trials

Jedi Tenderfoot

[My reason for these was simply to poke fun at the two most common titles and sigs I've seen, namely "I am ready for the trials" and "Padawan Learner"]

Previous titles and sigs as best as I can remember:

Dark Lord of Grammar, Master of Spelling and Syntax [chosen because I was giving Voldemort--wait, the other he who we must not name--a hard time about his imperfect posts, as he had been harassing someone else with his arrogance; this proved to be an embarrassment every time I goofed]

Trying to play nice [after a big argument with said arrogant jerk, I tried to make up]

Three a day

When referring to darth_ender's posts, the following rule applies:
"Three shall be the number thou shalt count, and the number of the counting shall be three. Four shalt thou not count, neither count thou two, excepting that thou then proceed to three. Five is right out. Once the number three, being the third number, be reached, then shalt log off of OT.com, never to return until the Lord cometh, or the following day, whichever cometh first."  [a time when I was really not focusing on my studies and thus limited my posts to three a day]

Handsome, attractive, witty...all you could ask for

Dad extraordinaire  [these obviously need no explanation, as you all well know how true they must be]

Can't find my old avatar online, but if I do I'll post it later.  It's fun to know more about you, so if you feel so inclined to contribute to this little time capsule, feel free.

Well, since someone roasted me about my avatar in The Big Roast, I think I might as well 'fess up.  I made this avatar all the way back when IndyLounge was the only forum I was on.  At the time, I was obsessed with an animated Penguin feature from my childhood called Scamper the Penguin.  (But maybe you already knew that)  For those who haven't seen it, it's actually a lot cooler than it sounds, as long as you have the right music. ;)  I wasn't intending for Indy to be "looming menacingly" over Scamper, just for him to be smiling at him.  The intended caption is "Cute!  What an adorable creature!"

Well, it just goes to show that when it comes to my obsessions, it doesn't get much worse than this.

...Or does it?

Say!  Since my avatar's preserved, I guess it wouldn't hurt to change the avatar now. Twisted Evil  What do you think?  Keep it Scamper, or Change to Brisby?

Oh!  and here's my title and signature:

TITLE:

Video Editor, Obsessive Fan, and Semi-Weirdo

Yeah, I don't remember why I put Semi-Weirdo in my title.  I guess I was in a rush to put something silly in there.

OLD SIGNATURE:

My current non-Star Wars obsession is:

Indiana Jones!

http://images.fanedit.org/images/FE%3C3OT/fe-ot1_signature.png

It's a sad day when fans wish that George would do a 1080p24 scan of the Unaltered Trilogy, even without any sort of restoration.

Alternative obsessions include...  Well, just the Secret of NIMH.

NEW SIGNATURE:

Don't be too surprised to hear me talk about The Secret of NIMH here.  It's become my thing on this forum.

It's a sad day when fans wish that George would do a 1080p24 scan of the Unaltered Trilogy, even without any sort of restoration.

http://originaltrilogy.com/forum/topic.cfm/OT-Deleted-Scenes-Discussion/post/538170/#TopicPost538170

In case anyone's wondering why I speak of an unrestored Star Wars in my signature.

The franchises I get nerdy about are so obscure that not even most nerds know about them.

Oh wow, I forget how long I've been here sometimes. Story time!
Back in the old days, before Jay switched to the new forum software (and we thought that day would NEVER come), you used to get rankings based on your post count. You started off with Padawan Learner, then "I am ready for the trials!", then Jedi Knight, and I believe after that were Jedi Master and Jedi Spirit (I think the only poster to make it to Jedi Spirit was a long-gone user named Bossk. Althought PSYCHO_DAYV might have gotten it as well). When Jay switched the software over he got rid of the post count rankings in an attempt to curb people spamming/shitposting just to boost their post count.

Ahhhhh...That explains it.  Then I really look like a noob!  I mean it when I say I like this story time.  It's fun imagining the early days of this site.  Next time you stop in, I'd love to know why you're a troublemaker without scruples.

Hell, I don't even remember exactly what I said. I think Vaderisnothayden was just complaining about something (again) and I just posted a picture that said "umad". Several months later in another thread I mentioned that I was being ignored by VINH, but didn't know why because I didn't remember talking to him at all. And then he posted that gem.

Yes, I think if Frink had been around in those days, he would have achieved the title The Maker.  Or maybe he'd even reach the level of George Lucas Reincarnate!

Thanks, DoubleKO.  My good looks and natural charisma have carried this thread longer than yours I'm afraid ;)  I'm just teasing, but if it was unsuccessful, then oh well.  I just like starting about a thread a week.  Trying to make that point as opposed to a thread a day is difficult to do in a question form by the way.  Hopefully this thread lasts a bit, but even if not, now I know why so many people are ready for the trials.
