I posted this in another thread, but no one’s responding to it, so…

Is is possible for anyone to send me these:

The Phantom Menace (original theatrical version)
Best source: TB digital broadcast transfer

Attack Of The Clones (original theatrical film version)
Best source: bootleg camcorder transfer

Revenge Of The Sith (original theatrical film/theatrical digital version)
Best source: various bootleg digital copies

on DVD?

Long version:

1.) Few people here (besides myself) really enjoyed the PT, so I doubt they're going to cook up a theatrical release of them, especially since the changes are so minor.

2.) Don't post a whole thread saying what you want. This goes in a PT fan-edit topic (pick one). If you don't get replies, then try another topic, and so on.

3.) This is not a bootleg site. You don't ask for that here.

Short version:

Nice ToS violation. Enjoy your ban.

He won't get banned, he hasn't finished paint wars yet
Fez: I am so excited about Star Whores.
Hyde: Fezzy, man, it's Star Wars.

Asking for bootlegs won't get you banned. It's advertising bootlegs for sale that gets you banned.

I don't know what they mean by that. Assuming they mean TorrentBox by TB, I tried searching the site and I don't think it's on there.

I heard the quality isn't very good for that. I think we should try a composite edit.

Well I think it would be best to just try and recreate the wipe. There's a topic about that somewhere around here...

I don't care if they're the same quality as the GOUT, I just want them.

In fact, the EditDroid DVDs may look like crap on a 12" flat-screen computer monitor, but they look crystal-clear on my Sanyo 17" Flat-Screen TV.

Check out the new Sheriff in town - 35 posts and you're telling people what to do? I know you joined almost a year ago but come on!

Several people liked the Prequels here, including myself, it's just that the OT is our passion. Also, it takes a lot of pointless energy to speak up and be heard here above the shitstorm of haters here who have nothing better to do than grumble about something on the internet.

Lots of folks have offerred up theatrical versions of the Prequels. My advice to ZigFried would be to PM Rikter, he has scads of awesome and rare DVD's, and if memory serves he at least has the first two. I think there's a version of TPM from a Japanese laser that was getting rave reviews...

I think that TB is a reference to the one who did the transfer, not the source.

I haven't seen the AOTC disc, so I might be wrong, but usually bootleg camcorder transfers are pretty dismal quality. So I wouldn't get my expectations up too high.

As for sources, I agree with TheCassidy with the suggestion to go to Rikter and see what he might have.

Thanks. I'll try Rikter in a few minutes.

You mean you're allowed to ask for bootlegs here? Wow. Damn it, why don't you people tell me these things?! If I'm going to be a self-righteous vigilante jerk, I need that kind of info!

Do the VHS copies have the same changes as the DVDs? Sorry if this seems like a stupid question but I don't know...

The Phantom Menace VHS is the theatrical cut, I don't think there was ever a VHS for AOTC and I know there wasn't one for ROTS.

I used to be very active on this forum. I’m not really anymore. Sometimes, people still want to get in touch with me about something, and that is great! If that describes you, please email me at [my username]ATgmailDOTcom.

Hi everybody. You’re all awesome. Keep up the good work.

I found a VHS copy of Episode III online.

Could these be sourced and made into DVDs instead of some bootleg source?

also, in case Episode III isn't available and I am just dillusional... my friend has an old bootleg copy (don't worry he owns the official DVD) that was pretty ****ing clean and was released a month before the DVD. Could this be the theatrical one or is it more likely the DVD screener or some ish?

Thanks in advance

We don't allow discussions about recent theatrical bootlegs - the key word being "recent". ROTS is over a year old and a DVD release is out, the warez scene has moved on and only nerdy SW fans are still interested in old workprints and telesyncs.

Still, it's bad form to start a new thread just to request something. So this thread is now a general discussion about prequel bootlegs.

I think you may be delusional. I don't think Episode III was officially available on VHS. I remember this caused quite a stink: some completists complained since all the other SW movies had been released on VHS.

There is a theatrical bootleg version of Episode III on DVD. It was sourced from a real thetrical DVD, transferred to Divx, then transferred back to a single layer DVD. This version is missing the end credits. It looks quite good, but there are some artifacts in the blacks as a result of the conversion to Divx.

You know of the rebellion against the Empire?

Anyone who wants to watch ROTS on VHS is nuts.

Ditto, without the "on VHS."

Episode III was released on VHS in the UK as well as elsewhere (Australia and New Zealand I think).

I have just checked Amazon UK and Ebay UK and they seem to be going for very silly money - up to £40!!!!!

4 - 5 - 3 - 1 - 6 - 2

It's funny what some people will do to get a complete matching set.

The Phantom Menace laserdisc was also the theatrical cut, and has been transferred to DVD, I'm sure. I wonder if one of these has the AC-3 track ripped as well, if it had one (it should of given its age). And I don't know about the VHS for AOTC, but is the changes great enough that someone couldn't restore the theatrical version of AOTC.

There is a disc floating around that's a transfer of the TPM LD. I do remember asking its 2 creators if they'd digitally ripped the 5.1 AC3 or not... but I can't remember the answer. Might have to look and see if I have it and can check. While the image isn't as good as the DVD, it's still great and perfectly watchable.

The NTSC DVD of TPM was a mess with far too much edge enhancement applied. The PAL DVD was slightly better.

The Japanese laserdisc had AC-3 at 384kbps; the DVD's audio track at 448kbps should technically be superior. However, I've seen reports that the audio was remixed for the DVD, whereas the laserdisc contained the original theatrical audio with increased dynamic range and power.

Was there any particular reason why the wipe was discarded, and why there was a bother to change one single shot for home video release? (other than to create a seemingly obligatory "new" version for video)

What's the deal about Simpsons season six?...
We don't have enough road to get up to 88.

What part of "don't ask" is unclear about this?

I just couldn't stand the plastic Homer head so I bought the R2 version off of ebay so all the packaging matches.
