Yeah, but I find your zealous insistance on being correct (despite your views being opinion based rather than factual) more than a tad bit annoying, especially since it's off topic.

Well feel free to be annoyed. I find your views and attitudes annoying too. I happen to believe my views are correct. Most people generally feel that way about views they feel strongly about. I'm not going to pretend I don't feel the way I do about my views. And my views on the non-canonicity of the prequels are based on solid facts, the facts of the nature of the prequels. I also believe that people are entitled to defend their views when they're challenged, whether or not somebody deems them off-topic.

What I find interesting is that you're continuing to debate with me when you know that's the way to get me to keep talking. So maybe you don't really want me to shut up, despite your talk about off-topic and hijacking. Obviously you want me to keep talking.

Well, I don't find this conversation scintillating, so I'm going to stop debating with you about this, because it's boring the shit out of me.

I'm still waiting for someone to involve everyone's favorite SW character...

The most common opinions here are: (as far as I can tell)

O-OT is the best.

PT is the worst.

The EU is here or there, but probably group consensus is that it's overall better than the PT.  (Or tell me if I've assumed incorrectly.  VINH, if you had to rank your disdain... would you put the PT or EU as the worst part of SW?)

So, any attempts to overwrite the standing EU with something that is more similar or takes its cues from the PT probably isn't going to be a very popular idea.

I gave my opinion earlier.  I think the EU has a lot of crap in it, but also some awesomeness.  I don't read all of it or much of it anymore, but I would rather have what's there currently than start over from scratch and have 100% garbage.  Especially since so much of the EU was based on just the O-OT and a reboot would necessarily be based more on the "wholistic" 1-6 "saga" and "clone wars" show.

IT'S MY TRILOGY, AND I WANT IT NOW!

"[George Lucas] rebooted the franchise in 1997 without telling anyone." -skyjedi2005

"Yeah, well, George says a lot of things..." a young 1997 xhonzi on RASSM

"They're my movies." -George Lucas. 19 people won oscars for their work on Star Wars (1977) and George Lucas wasn't one of them.

I'm pretty sure he meant Typho.

Um, the EU isn't real Star wars and has plenty shit but we're not expected to take it as seriously, so it's less of a problem.

Well, if we're still talking a new movie or TV series, I'd absolutely like to be involved.

I'd prefer to play Mace Windu if possible.

Or maybe Panaka. Or Biff Tannen. Was he in Star wars?

Windu is a wanker. Pick somebody better. Like Jar Jar.

Way to go Vaderisnothayden, you successfully derailed my thread. Are you satisfied yet, or are we going to have to involve the mods?

You're pissed off because Ric Olie and Xhonzi are having fun on your thread? Don't you know that people do that here? Lighten up. Have some fun. Join in the humor.

As for debating with you about the previous stuff, I already told you that I'm done with that.

Sorry, I thought I was still posting in the "Wipe the EU Thread".  But that conversation did seem to move here.

Don't worry too much, Timstuff.  Threads never seem to go where you want them.  We're far too much a hive of sarcasm and villainy for that.  :)

True dat.  Timstuff, let me know if you want me to stay out of this thread, as I tend to be off topic pretty much all the time.

Of course, I know you'd miss my rugged good looks.

There's not much to do after Jedi. From what I've read, the only reason Lucas ever planned to make the third trilogy was so Luke could find his sister and confront the Emperor. Then that became the last half of Jedi. The Emperor was the mastermind behind all the evil in the universe, now he's dead. Who are they gonna fight against? Opportunistic despots--ooh!--scary!

The period most ripe for stories is between Revenge of the SIth and Empire Strikes Back.

It would be cool if we got another Star Wars trilogy every decade-and-a-half. Hell, go all the way up to Episode XV. The PT was George's "I can do whatever I want" project. An ST can be more in the style of the OOT.

Excellent.

Like I said before, I think that the scenario Zahn created would serve well as a backdrop for a TV series. It gives an overarching plot but allows for plenty of side stories to happen in the meanwhile, much like the Clone Wars cartoon series. You've got your big bad (Thrawn) and disposable lackeys (Imperial Remnant forces), and you've got main characters with motivations worth giving a darn about. The sky is the limit.

The other possibility is to do a show set between episodes 4 and 5, however I think that post-ROTJ has a bit more potential since the characters and plot have more room to grow. With ESB we'd get Vader and Palpatine with the Empire at full strength, but we'd also have a bit of inevitability and predictability since we know where it's all going to end up (not to mention that Luke's force abilities are on part with a Youngling at that point, and cannot improve without contradicting Episode V). I'd be happy with either though, as long as it means seeing Luke, Han, and Leia back in action.

using the term "youngling" = fail.
