And I agree with Mielr, that even the way he talks is a plague on the ears.
Wanting a quality transfer of the most popular movies ever made isn't too much to ask, regardless of decades-later changes in 'artistic vision'. What the hell is his problem, anyway? Who does he think he is? I bet he's so into the mentality of what's being changed and what he thinks is 'better' that he hasn't even watched the movies for the story in a long time. Or even if he ever did, if his comments on them are anything to go by.
Lucas made the changes, and is annoying and stubborn, but at least he did create them, which is something. McC's useless, wretched toady-ing just grates on the nerves far more, for the tone of it.

The really annoying thing that Lucas did, was hire McCallum.

George Lucas might have been lead creative mind, but McCallum was the man in charge, pulling the strings. He was one of the very few who could have stood up to Lucas when he has made a bad decision.
He deserves at least as much of the blame for the lack of quality in the special edition and prequel trilogy.
Edit: I wrote this comment before reading his quote from Total Film or any of the other comments in this thread. Right now, I have no respect for the guy (I refuse to call him a "man", because that is not what he is) whatsoever any more.

Whenever George has a whimsical idea, Rick is right there to say, "that's f*cking awesome."
I couldn't even stand to sit through the ROTS commentary all the way, with Rick saying "Oh God, I love this part and they did such a f**** fantastic job" every time the power-point transitions wiped to a new scene.
I thought that podblast ROTS commentary with people making fun of it and belching was more informative than that.

From my point of view, McCallum is a little pathetic worm who shouldn't even have the job he was given. He's not worth any attention or grief. In fact, any of his bad qualities only speak to the great mistakes and irrationality of Lucas, who is the one who hired McCallum in the first place. 'Nuff said.

RC = Idiot, didn't hear of him until 1997. 1997 (Maybe even earlier)-Present = Jerk, asshole, same as SE-PT-GL, etc. Conclusion: Big asshole, that didn't deserve to get the job he has now. He is a wining little brad (SP?) and he probably sucked GL's balls to actually get the job. He pisses of all SW fans, exept the mindless fanboys.
