I’m actually worried by the shear number of wild North Korea stories appearing lately. While I realize that North Korea is a horrible oppressive regime that does ghastly things, it is also true that military strikes are often preceded by a propaganda blitz so that people won’t oppose the action. It’s starting to have that feel… lots of wild, unsubstantiated stories attributed to defectors. It seems like suddenly half of the stories trending are North Korea sensational stories.

Word of the day: dotard.
NEW YORK — President Trump on Thursday announced new financial sanctions targeting North Korea as his administration seeks to build international support for more aggressively confronting the rogue nation, whose escalating nuclear and ballistic missile capabilities have reached what U.S. officials consider a crisis point.
The new penalties seek to leverage the dominance of the U.S. financial system by forcing nations, foreign companies and individuals to choose whether to do business with the United States or the comparatively tiny economy of North Korea. U.S. officials acknowledged that like other sanctions, these may not deter North Korean leader Kim Jong Un’s drive to threaten the United States with a nuclear weapon, but is aimed at slowing him down.
Kim on Thursday reacted angrily to Trump’s remarks and actions this week, calling the president a “mentally deranged U.S. dotard” and Trump’s earlier speech at the U.N. “unprecedented rude nonsense.” Kim said that he was now thinking hard about how to respond.
“I will make the man holding the prerogative of the supreme command in the U.S. pay dearly for his speech,” Kim said in a statement released by the official Korean Central News Agency, which also published a photo of the North Korean leader sitting at his desk holding a piece of paper.
“I am now thinking hard about what response he could have expected when he allowed such eccentric words to trip off his tongue. Whatever Trump might have expected, he will face results beyond his expectation,” Kim said, saying that he would “tame” Trump “with fire.”

an old person, especially one who has become weak or senile.JEDIT: Here’s the entire statement. It’s incredible, along with this picture:
I seem to remember warning people that Trump would be disaster with the N. Korean problem. Too bad not enough people listened to me.
… almost nobody here supports Trump. Or are you saying he was elected because the nation as a whole didn’t listen to you?
yeah, i mean, who exactly did you tell? i didn’t see you on any of the cable news shows.

Something like that.

I voted for Trump purely because Warb said not to.

Keep sending those faxes! damn, finally some good news this week.

I hereby forthwith take this statement back.

Did anyone else see the scene in Ken Burns Vietnam of McCain being interviewed after being captured? It is really heart wrenching.
McCain is one of those guys who I respect a lot because of what he’s done and what he’s been through, but who I also disagree with vehemently on a lot of things.

agreed. i constantly find myself agreeing with things he says, but often not with what he ends up doing. so i really hope this news about him rejecting the GOP health ‘plan’ is real.

Unfortunately he has a long tradition of saying how awful something is, voting for it, and then continuing to say how awful it is, without skipping a beat. Pay no attention to the maverick mouth, just watch the votes.

Valid. His record on past versions of this bill still stands, however.
Regardless, here is his statement on this iteration.

I want to give a special commendation to John McCain. I really respect him. He’s a politician, and thus is undoubtedly full of shit most of the time, but he’s one of the last ones to display any real decency.

So glad Trumpy has time to go campaign when Puerto Rico is turning into a disaster film. And you want fire football players who protest, Mr. President? Buy a freaking team of your own, if you can afford it. 😉

Good lord Trump is a massive steaming pile of shit. The saber is rattling so much that it’s starting to come apart.

@realDonaldTrumpJust heard Foreign Minister of North Korea speak at U.N. If he echoes thoughts of Little Rocket Man, they won’t be around much longer!

I respectfully disagree. I don’t think Jesus would ever talk that way.
People are getting so jittery a routine night launch from Vandenburg AFB overnight made some wonder what was going on. Kind of bummed I missed it as I can see such launches from in front of my house.
I actually heard an explosion tonight while out for a walk. Even felt it from the ground. The fire dept. had gone by about ten minutes earlier, so that was probably connected. I still nearly freaked.

The entire offensive line of the Oakland Raiders plans to protest during the national anthem prior to Sunday night’s game against the Washington Redskins in response to President Trump’s statements about the NFL, a player with knowledge of the situation told NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport.
The Raiders’ offensive line, the only all African-American unit in the NFL, plans to sit or kneel together in protest of unity during the anthem, according to Rapoport.
“As far as some of the players I’ve spoken with, even a lot of them who have strong views and have kept it private, they feel that President Trump has given them no choice but to speak out,” Rapoport reported on NFL GameDay Morning on Sunday.
Good for them. Frankly, more players need to do this. A major white star (like Aaron Rodgers) needs to do this. The President of the United States should not be calling for companies to fire employees because they speak out against racism. The President of the United States should be doing his part to reduce racism, not making it worse.
Telling businesses to fire employees who make political protest unrelated to the business, is un-American IMO.
