If I decided all on my own to illegally tear a statue of Malcom X, because I didn’t some of the things he said about white people, what would you call me? Would it be wrong to call me thug? If I don’t own the statue and the lang it is on, I don’t have the right to remove the statue myself.

vandalized and tore down was just of a nondescript soldier, not even standing in a glorified position and it was dedicated to the war dead.

There are other ways to memorialize the dead. I’d definitely argue that statue was a glorification.

even though he said the soldier was not standing a in a glorified position?

WTH is a glorified position? A soldier can be downtrodden & grieving, and it doesn’t mean the statue wasn’t designed to symbolize the nobility (no matter how dear the price) of their cause.

Example:

Project Threepio (Star Wars OOT subtitles)

It’s when a woman takes her legs and wraps-

Wait, what were we talking about?

I can’t take the word “thug” seriously anymore because I’m just reminded of this.

Councilman Carl Stokes is a moron. Calling someone a thug nowhere near the same as calling them the n-word.

If saying that is lecturing black people and policing the opinions of black people, I don’t give a damn.

One is a racial slur, the other is not.

The people I was calling thugs were all scrawny white people.

Ah, ok then. You can call white people thugs all you want.

I will say this, I don’t people should just take it upon themselves to tear down a statue, do it the legal way. Do it via the appropriate government entity. And yes, it might not be inaccurate to say that those that illegally tear down statues are thugs.

Some things that are illegal aren’t really wrong at all. I’d be careful using such a negative term like “thug.”

“Thug” can have racial connotations and can be used as a slur, whether you give a damn or not.

(obviously not directed at mfm but saying so now just in case)

I agree that it has racial connotations. I just can’t think of another word to call the grubby hipsters in the mob I was talking about.

I prefer to use “assholes” over “thugs” since it’s universal. 😉

Author

Asshole is my favorite word, but I tend to use that for rude people, and while I’m sure all of those thugs were rude, their rudeness wasn’t my main problem.

I guess the only way to fix this is to give the NAACP all the rights to the Merriam-Webster Dictionary and then they can “correct” all the definitions of words therein.

Also not how anything works.
