I can’t believe that actually had to be explained.

I can’t believe it’s not…

Nope.

I can’t believe this is even a discussion.

Hey I’m just trying to prove that I am having a discussion and not just ignoring crazy comments.

You can’t have a discussion with crazy comments. I mean, I guess you can, but not a rational discussion…so what’s the point?

Why wasn’t Udall told to shut up?

Devils advocate: Maybe it had something to do with what was going on in the Senate at the time Warren was reading the letter as compared to what was going on when you Udall was reading it?

Maybe…except the rule that was supposedly violated was (paraphrasing) no trashing of a fellow senator. I assume the rule is always in effect.

Yeah, I don’t know.

An average American Citizen who lashes out immediately instead of being rational, is nowhere near the problem for the nation as a President who lashes out immediately instead of being rational. We do and should hold the President to a higher standard.

My opinion is based on moral principal, not who holds a higher office, LOL. How you carry yourself is important regardless of how anyone else carries themselves. If you’re happy with double standards, that’s fine, but then say you’re okay with it.

😃

Consider this:

both Frink and the President are being judged by the same principle: they both could be considered knuckle heads if they lash out immediately with out being rational.

Now, we see they are both being judged by the same moral principle. they are both knuckle heads (in this thought experiment)

The part you seem to discredit however, is that a position of power (in this case being president of the “USA, USA, USA!!”), the fact that someone meets or doesn’t meet a moral standard, is amplified. in simple words, it matters more, because it affects more.

knuckle head on OT, annoying, but doesn’t get my laws or taxes changed.
Knuckle head in WH, annoying, can get my laws or taxes changed.

All I was getting at was your last 2 statements. I don’t disagree that a position of power is more important in the larger scheme of things though. I do however find it hypocritical for one person who does bitch about someone else who does it. It negates the validity of the bitching.

So basically, it’s ok if Trump lashes out, because the OT forum allows Frink to lash out. I guess that’s a sort of Modus Ponens.

I’d guess that is the consensus.

Why wasn’t Udall told to shut up?

There’s probably a few reasons but my guess is the damage had already been done in terms of public opinion (as the Warren story and the King letter spread like wildfire after this happened - probably more so than if it didn’t, plus it also accidentally gave Warren and progressives a new rallying cry). I think another thing is that Udall was not the only senator who had planned to read the letter after Warren was silenced so I think they might have just figured let’s get it over with.

Either way this backfired massively for McConnell (though I guess only so much, as Sessions was still confirmed, despite being a confirmed racist pile of garbage).

Sanders also read the letter in full.

Keep Circulating the Tapes.

Yeah I think there were at least four senators who ended up reading it.
