Plot holes in the SW saga — Page 3

Jimbo. Why do you continue to make people think that 16-year-olds are idiots?

Aside from Padme mysteriously knowing about the hangar, I really can't think of any plot holes. And I don't think all the Stormtroopers are clones. If their age was accellerated they would be too old by the time of the OT. And Obi-wan does know Luke before ANH. Remember he addresses Luke by name after Luke gets up in the Wastes of Junland.

Also, It isn't like the first Death Star was destroyed easily. The Rebels sent out 30 ships to attack the station and three plus the Falcon returned. Luke, Wedge, and one Y-wing.

A one man fighter took it down. It is the size of a small moon. Its pretty damn easy.

But twenty-seven one-man-fighters got blown to peices trying to get there. And he only sucseeded because he was strong in the Force and because Solo intervened.

Still it was a far far far bigger lose to the empire. After such a loose it doesn't make sense to me why the Empire would build another one.
Author
Time
It doesn't. People do plenty of things that don't make sense and history is full of repeated mistakes.

Then what we have is a plot hole.
Author
Time
No. What we have is extreme stupidity. A plot hole is something that can't happen because another facet of the story makes it impossible or a character knows something they can't possibly know. Nothing says Palpatine can't build a second Death Star; he (or Lucas) just isn't that bright.

Well what made A New Hope and The Empire Strikes Back so good was that the Empire was a definute threat to the rebelion. The Empire being a buch of idiots as Return of the Jedi shows them really is a drag.

I've already given a possible reason for that in my last post. Also I gave a multitude of reasons why the stormtroopers aren't clones, if you want us to accept that they are then at least make an attempt to explain these things. You can't just keep saying "They are clones" and expect anyone to accept it just because you say so.

sry jimbo pal...
they're not clones...

different voices..
"Never. I'll never turn to the darkside. You've failed your highness. I am a jedi, like my father before me."

If George says there clones. There clones. George knows it all.
Author

no he doesnt jimbo...
ask him if they're clones why do they have different voices?

Jimbo. The Empire was a threat to the rebellion in RotJ. The entire rebel command fleet was in one place and couldn't leave because of Stardestroyers. And a Death Star was right there picking the rebel ships of one at a time. And If the second deathstar was finished, I'm sure they would have compensated for the weakness exploited in the first movie... Like maybe a curved exhaust shaft.

well, the second death star was complete at that time.

Not complete but oporational. Theres no way the rebelion would have survived that battle. If Return of the Jedi was up to the standards of The Empire Strikes Back the ewoks would not have been enough to defet armed clones and there would be a logical explaination of how all those Star Destroyers didn't succed in defeating the rebelion.

Oh no, not the "ewoks couldn't win" thing again...

And about the stormtrooper clones thing: isn't it obvious? At first, GL created then as a mercenary army, they were hired/drafted by the empire. But then, when he came to the prequels, he had to come with an explanation for that "clone wars" line, and he thought "wait a minute, stormtroopers, clones, yes Georgie-boy this could work!" I mean, take C3PO, when you guys watched the original trilogy, have you ever thought he was created by Darth Vader himself?

"You are part of a... wait a minute, is that C3PO?"
"Oh no, artoo, he saw us! We're doomned!"
"It is! It is you! Threepio come here, it's me, Anakin! Your creator!"
"Anakin? Little master Annie, that's really you?"
"Yes! Oh screw this dark side empire thing! Threepio, come with me, we're going home!"

ricarleite is exactly right!

Lucas only made them clones when it came to the prequel trilogy...
if you cant see that then your either blind or stupid...
or your in love with Lucas...

and as for the Ewoks beating the Empire...
do we have any problems with hobbits defeating orcs?
no... and they're were only 4 of them!!!!!!
so quit the bitching about the ewoks... they're were thousands of them.... and maybe that just proves how weak the empire has gotten if they can be beaten by such creatures...

Actually I found the Hobbits beating orcs to be just as stupid. I really wouldn't have had any problem with the ewoks if they didn't beat the clones. The line "aren't you a little short for a stormtrooper" was always in the movie and directly implys there all the same. That was in the movie long before the prequals.

FFS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You just don't even give other people's opinions or explanations a chance do you?

You keep using that BS line as your only source of argument & there are SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO many explanations as to why that line was used & most of them have been offered here by other posters. I am personally getting quite sick of your ignorance. STOP TELLING PEOPLE THEY ARE WRONG, YOU ARE NOT IN POSSESSION OF ALL THE FACTS! RESPECT OTHER PEOPLE's OPINIONS & YOU MIGHT FIND OTHER PEOPLE BEGINNING TO RESPECT YOU!

No kidding! But she meant that all soldiers that were recruited to be stormtroopers should be at least 1.80m tall or something. And the suit was obviously too big for him.

BTW, it's the only scene from ANH I hate, Luke staring at Leia, and she says that line in a "prequels-acting-way", and then Luke is like "what? oh the suit!", I mean duh.
