I’ve started using Plex Media Server recently, and I’m trying to organize my movie library. However, while there is an Internet Fanedit Database Agent for acquiring fanedit metadata, there isn’t one for preservations.
How would you suggest organizing metadata for Star Wars preservations in Plex?

I’m currently using Emby which is similar to Plex and I just write custom nfo and xml files for preservations. It’s a bit more work than using a scrapper to grab the info for you but it doesn’t take much time to edit a file for a new preservation.

For myself, I just have one version of each film in my Plex-able folders, so in the meta-data I just pursue the movies themselves, no modifiers. So, in my Plex library, it simply says Star Wars Episode # - Movie Title. Make sense? I’m at work or I’d SS it.
I am not sure if this is what you are going for, but… I name the files as:
“Star Wars Episode x - title (year) [preservation name & version].mkv”
and put them in my Plex movie folder. Then, update the Plex library and it will show multiple versions available (assuming you have multiple versions of an episode). Use the option to split it into individual parts. Use Info to determine which of the entries is a particular preservation. Manually scrape or edit the metadata, as necessary.
In my case I just customize the titles, names, poster and background art.
