what is the definitive answer to this question? i heard different reports that on this player composite might be the way to go. though, s-video on paper is for me the way to go. i can capture either, but i wanna use the best option.

The answer depends on what comb filter your capture device uses.
i have a blackmagic intensity extreme and shuttle as capture devices.
Probably composite is better, as your capture card *should* have a better comb filter... but you must do some testing - I reccomend to use Video Essential and the Snell&Wilcox test.

i don't have these laserdiscs. would the thx wow be good enough? if yes, what do i need to look for in the comparison?
Ah, if you have the Blackmagic, then the answer is... Neither!
The BM capture devices are excellent... except for their comb filters which absolutley suck. Unfortunately so does the one on the 925.
I'd strongly recommend getting an outboard comb filter in the shape of a DVD recorder and you will get far better results.
If not, then use the SVideo output. The 925 CF is awful, but the BM one is worse.
