Hi. I created this about a year ago. Its basically a movie of the album Dark Side of The Moon by Pink Floyd that I edited together from their screen films and ‘Koyaanisqatsi (82)’. I have the only dvd copy of this and would like to share it with anyone interested, probably through a torrent. I posted this on youtube also.

Okay, I have decided that Im going to remake the dvd to try to include some special features and a better menu. Among these would be the interviews from 72' found on the Live At Pompeii dvd. Im also planning on including a live concert from April 29,1970, San Francisco called KQED An Hour with Pink Floyd. There will also be easter eggs. When this project is completed I will either find somewhere to host the torrent or will do b&p's. Another idea I had was to include Alan Parsons' quadraphonic mix as an audio option. I will keep everyone posted on when this thing is either done or near completion. I have already created the cover art, all I need to do now is create the menus and encode for a few days. Peace

Very interesting. I'm a little bit hesitant to see Koyaanisqatsi used in another context as it is in my top 5 films of all time, and I'm not the biggest fan of post-Barrett Pink Floyd (and don't want to open the debate on that subject), but this seems to actually work. If you don't mind, I have a couple thoughts.

Right at the beginning, when it switches from the heart monitor to the Koy footage, you delay the scene change just a second, or make it fade quickly, to line up with the cresendo of the opening guitar/drums intro. I would also recommend using the IRE fullscreen (not cropped widescreen) version of Koyaanisqatsi for the video footage (search these forums for more info). And finally, I would (personally) use less stills of the band, and more Koy. These are of course, just what I would do, but I just thought I would share some of my ideas.

Overall though, it's a pretty cool idea, and I wish I would have thought of it first, with other music . Definitely keep us updated on the DVD!

I like most of your ideas, but Im pretty happy with the way it turned out. Plus I dont feel like editing this again (although Im very much aware that the fullscreen version has more picture). Also, the stills of the band and live footage of the band were used to make it fit as a kind of 'interactive' feel (as in, this was meant to be like opening the album and seeing all of the pictures and such). Regardless, Im definitely remaking the dvd. The menus are very boring and there are no extra features. I also like Barrett-era Floyd (Jugband Blues), but I still feel that Dark Side of The Moon was their greatest achievement. To each his own.

Cool. I was able to enjoy Floyd more than usual by watching this, and that's no easy task. Can't wait to see the final product.

this explains why I have been stuck at 68% for the last few days.

how did you come to the number of 100 people having downloaded it? I think it was showing that 100+ people were in the process of downloading (leeching) when you quit seeding.

torrents take a while before the are self sustaining. 10gb uploaded of a 4.5gb torrent is really not that much when you are the original uploader. to successfully upload a torrent, especially on a public tracker, you need to be willing to seed for quite a while.

the fact that you had 100+ people interested in you edit ahould be encouraging. most do not get near that ammount.

people are interested, and it would be a shame if all your hard work would go unshared.

Apparently the seed isn't working properly for some, but due to the attitudes of these people and the fact that over 100 people leeched the dvd without seeding, I have decided to stop seeding. I uploaded over 10 gigs and Im done with sharing this. Thank you.

Please continue seeding this. I would seed this for days once I don't see where anyone has gotten it yet so they cant seed it. There are several people trying to get it though.

Thanks for reconsidering, Donnie!

I bet the reason it isn't seeding well is because that one seeder is behind a firewall and doesn't have his bittorrent client setup to compensate for that.

There are currently over 300 people that are stuck at around 68%. If you started seeding with the old torrent, we'll know pretty quickly if it's working.

Thanks!

p.s. If you are using a bittorrent client that supports Super-seeding, try to turn that function on. It guarantees that you send out only the parts of the torrent that aren't currently available from some of the other downloaders. Super-seeding is made especially for this type of situation, where you have a ton of downloaders and only one seeder. This means less uploading on your part. Theoretically you'd only have to upload the last 32% that no one else has.
