Thanks for responding to my issue, and taking my over reaction with such good spirit.
I have no problems with this project, and you are more than free to use any audio work I've done so far.
Please understand I wish you all the luck with this project.

If I have missed or not responded to any PM's from you or anyone, It could be due to the issue of my PM box being full most of the time.

Again good luck with Highlander 2.

Thanks for the kind words - KENN - You will be missed.

Yet, Interest is at an all-time low in my project ( no surprise, no response, no one cares ) But we are going to keep plugging away - perhaps when the new Highlander Movie and the new Animated Movie comes out it may gain appeal.

Currently working on the project( for those who care) :

Mitch (AKA- NighthawksDVD) Project Co- Producer and Editor

Jay (AKA: Phineusbg ) Project Director and Editor

KENN (AKA: Fanfiltration) Project Editor - Has recently left the project (read above) becuase of a misunderstanding, I wish him the best. His work is so amazing and will be missed.

Tomas (AKA: Metalhead) - Sound and Audio for new documentary on the different versions and alternate takes.

I send the disc to Rikter who replies it's got potential but he never speeks of it again. No one seems interested in the project so I shelved it for a later date hoping that I can generate some buzz after Superman Returns is released.. I will keep my original recut idea and finsh it someday if anyone cares. BTW!! Rikter now has the only copy of my rough cut as my computer crashed and I lost it all. I still have to get a copy from him. I hope he didn't throw it away.. oops!! I mean it was my first edit job learning it all from a OCP and a ADigitalman thread as to how to cut movies. There help was great but I am years away.

- I still have the rough-cut of Superman (I think you did not reply to my email & I never spoke of it again as I've not heard from you since) but I'm also still waiting for the Waterworld DVD's you were to send me MONTHS ago which I had started to gatehr source materials for the covers and menus but have since deleted them as I've still not heard from you - but I think you got someone else on this right?

Again, like FF this is a hobby and is always third in my life (Family, Datsuns then movie projects) and I always will put my projects ahead of others but most important - I usually do not read the forums or PM's (as most of you know already), I very rarely read any of the threads here on the OT AND I honestly only read my emails maybe once a week and I respond to them even slower (hey, I like the real world - OFF the internet that is), I only use forums to post about my projects and uploads anymore as there is just WAY TOO much to keep up with anymore.

ANYWAY, if you need that rough-cut drop me an email (not PM) and I'll burn it off my drive for you

Hey, thanks for the relpy RIK

You sure are a PAL, all the work you have done on my other DVD authoring has been spectacular and I can't thank you enough!

I am sorry you didn't get the Waterworld, I thought I sent it to you!!! I will send it out Monday, I think I have always sent everything I have promised in the past to you.

I think I am going to take a break from this message board though! As I feel I am now black listed because of the Fanfiltration thingy!!

I think I just need a break and to concentrate on my project, to many people are over- analizing everything I write in this thread, no one responds about anything postitive ie: there are plenty of message boards who would appreciate pulpers efforts.

what I mean by pulper -

Well it seems on these message boards there are the

KINGS
LORDS
pulpers

I clearly am a pulper -

This is a hobby for me also and I appreicate all that you do, you have done some great work!! However, for others, I am not going to sit an justify every little word I write.

RIK, your work is great BTW!!!
Hell, the menus on Superman series, Blade Runner and some of the others are spectaular.

But I need time to reflect on life - if anyone cares about my projects email me....

RIK - I can promise you I will send Waterworld - Master tapes and DVD copies, please return, as well as the Mad Max full cut extended I mentioed yrs back. I am glad you still have the Superman 4 recut...thanks man!!

peace my friend

Hi, new to the boards, but had to express my surprise that anyone is bothering with Highlander II. I've always been kind of fond of it, despite its huge and obvious flaws.

And the funny thing is, after years of buying the Renegade version over and over again (first the LD, then the DVD, then the SE DVD) I think I mostly prefer the Zeist version. The time-travel element makes even less sense than them being aliens, IMO.

I am actually planning my own version of H2 which primarily uses the image (updated effects) and chronology of the Renegade SE, but reverts back to the Zeist origin. Only problem is, I can't find a good quality widescreen theatrical cut. Paramount apparently had one on the way, but now there's ben no word on it.

Anyway, can't wait to see how this project works out.

Hello,

Thanks for the reply!

We have just completed the restoration of the European Version.

A special thanks goes out to

FANFILTRATION for some of his audio restoration work. Some of his work was used. Thanks again.

PHINEASBG and Myelf have restored it using the best possible elements for the best viewing expierence.

Since no complete version ( except for the TV CUT and the German Cut partial and cut for rating version) of the european cut existed some areas have been composited such as the Fairytale Ending and another notable scene.

Testing on the DVD is complete and construction of a demonstration disc comparing where we started and where we have came is underway along with commentary on the project.

The DVD will be sent to a few good guys on the board for testing and critics views.

I have aquired the lost UK Highlander 2 soundscore as well as the Highlander scores DVD

I will include them on the proposed two disc set.

***Now the fun begins:

After inhacing and restoring the audio on the American Cut of the french DVD there was changes.

The french DVD audio was dropped due to a hissing noise, the 2.0 Stereo soundtrack from the UK release was uses and is much better.
The American Cut has been enhanced to 16:9 Wide

Also, the Renegade Cut was also cleaned using the OOP laserdisc and not the DVD, it was also inhanced to 16:9 Wide

Using these three cuts and the SEDVD we can begin to assemble and Extended Zeist cut.

The Extended Zeist cut will restore deleted footage and missing audio cues

The Extended Cut is what many have wanted to see.

It will feature:

footage from all the versions as well as for the first time a ZEIST CUT in FLASHBACK form mirroring the RENEGADE CUT.

If anyone has question feel free to ask. Thanks for the reply, you are one of the few.

lol!!

That extended Zeist one sounds great...pretty much what I am planning.

A question though...(let's see if I can phrase this so that it makes sense.)

Are you going to be re-editing the Zeist cut to have the flashback structure of the SERenegade, or are you going to use primarily the SERenegade, but replace the "Distant Past" portions with the Zeist material?

The reason I ask is that one of the little details I was planning to preserve was the December Installation, as opposed to the Renegade method of making Shield Control and the December Installation one and the same.

Just curious.

Holy Crap is that ever cool, yes!! something like that!!! ASH you the man!!! thanks man!!!!

One small detail it's the QUICKENING VERSION of the film so it's

HIGHLANDER II: THE QUICKENING
RESTORED INTERNATIONAL VERSION

Thw Wording for it:

Immortal Scottish swordsman Connor MacLeod has just been banished to Earth for leading a failed rebellion on his home planet of Zeist. On Earth, he discovers the shield he built to shade humanity from a disappearing ozone -- though obsolete -- is owned and operated by a profit hungry, multi-national conglomerate at Earth's ecological expense. Guided by his spiritual leader Juan Ramirez and aided by beautiful environmental terrorist Louise Marcus, MacLeod will eliminate deadly assassins and dodge a dangerous trapnest to rid planet of his creation.

A different version of HIGHLANDER II : THE QUICKENING appeared in Britain around the same time as the American versions debut in 1990 and the editing for this version was funded by Nigel Green of Entertainment Productions along with Panzer and Davis. The British version had the input of the director and producers and is much truer to the original script. The film contains the original ending where Conner returns to Zeist as he had promised and this is the only place that you'll ever see it. Ten minutes of additional footage were also added which helps the story immensely (including what happened to Brenda, Conner's girlfriend from the first film) and the narrative was edited together much better than the American version. This version of HIGHLANDER II has only been seen in America on a poor quality bootleg so most fans are not aware of its existence.

Phineasbg, Fanfiltration and Nighthawks Entertainment present an all new presentation of the film, digitally enhanced and cleaned

with an all new audio remastering.

Now sit back and enjoy Highlander II: The Quickening the way it was shown internationally.

1:85:1? What happened to its original aspect ratio?

Is this an opened up transfer, or some kind of P&S/matted monstrosity?
Author
Time
no

Uh...thanks?

That only leaves a zoomed transfer as an option then. Izzat it?
Author

Mitch, don't you think it will be more accurate to say THE RESTORED EUROPEAN CUT since this cut was seen in England, but also in France and Germany ?

about the aspect ratio, is it 1.85:1 or 2.35:1 ?

Are there special features on this disc ?

thanks

Hey Ash,

It's 1:85.1 because most of the original source material was 1:85.1 from an OOP german laserdisc.

it is letterbox, no pan and scan on any of the parts.

It was to jarring to go from
2:35.1 then to 1.85 and then back and forth.

So we decided to keep it all 1:85.1

For some reason the disc was created that way. Also it was easier to add the restored extended fairytale sequence.

It's complicated but that is what we had to work with.

Thanks again for making the DVD cover..

I will include a plug for you on the new disc.

No, special features, i's movie only. maybe someday we will do something....

However, thepicture of Katana smahing through the window of the car on the back of your disc is not in the film.

Oh ya!! the name

RESTORED EARLY EUROPEAN CUT

there had been two euro cuts, one with fairytale and one without, the one without was the most commonly used.... it;s a wierd story with this movie...lol

Over the years I have read that it may have been released in some international theatres in 1:85.1 which would explain the 1:85.1 ransfer.

in 1:85.1 even though the original aspect ratio was 2:35.1. there are other movies around that time that happened to also.

Simply put, most of the international theatres didn't have the screen for widescreen 2:35.1.

or it could have been who ever trasnfered the crappy film to the german only dialog laserdiscs ( all four of them) fricked up!!!

who know. we may never know.

One thing people need to understand that this is almost a completly different cut of Highlander II.

I disagree on this point. here in France, 2.35 films are screened in 2.35, not 1.85, in theatres.

I will finish the cover not next week, because i will be on holidays, but the week after. I will do an alternative cover for my self, for The LD to dvd transfer I made from the french Laserdisc which is 2.35:1, french dub only. Here in France we had the european cut with the fairy tail ending.
