"When Lucas does this it's a slap in the fan's face... when Jackson does it..... it's spin time."You know, I'm not a huge Jackson fan, nor a huge LOTR fan, but even
I can see the difference between these two scenarios. Obviously, you have bigger issues to deal with, and this is the best you can do, but they just aren't the same. Sorry.
"if GL was about to release Star Wars for the 3rd time, people would be pissed, IMO."Because this isn't simply a rerelease. The details are right in front of you, both for the new LOTR as well as the multitude of SW releases listed at DavisDVD.com. Either you don't want to educate yourself on the difference, because you know full well that it hurts your argument, or you just want to troll - which is more likely, since this kind of thing has been discussed ad neauseum.
The biggest difference of all that you keep glossing over: every version of LOTR, be it theatrical or the director's "vision", is presented in the best possible form that DVD can provide. Lucas simply cannot make this claim.
If you want to bash PJ, why not head off to TF.n. They'd welcome you into their ranks with open arms. I can tell you now, you aren't going to recieve the kind of attention you so desperately crave on this site.
"DVD Sets for the Original Star Wars Trilogy...."
See, now I
KNOW you are an ignorant moron relying on half an argument. Here's Lucas' VHS and LD line-up.

That's an awful lot of releases for a half-finished film, wouldn't you say?
And then there are the Special Editions and DVD editions.

As you can see, PJ doesn't hold a candle to GL in terms of releasing the films, but GL doesn't hold a candle to PJ
improving each subsequent rerelease. Since you obviously don't or refuse to get it, PJ consistently tries to up the ante in terms of quality
and quantity in each release, giving
all fans the most of what they want.
Lucas did this once on LD (The Definitive Collection), and
barely on the 2004 DVDs - the rerelease of which did
not include the measly bonus disc, yet didn't cost much less. Go figure . (I love how you've conveniently forgotten about that rerelease, BTW

) Let's also keep in mind that Lucas has only recently released the OT in
any form on DVD. Considering his track record, what the fuck makes you think he won't repeat himself with multiple meaningless redudant or lackluster releases?
Lucas should take some notes on how PJ is releasing his films. GL just wants to give people what
he wants them to see (The "Faces" set included, as a bonus, an interview of him. WooHoo!
*snore*) He's stated over and over that the "original version" wouldn't be rereleased and/or didn't exist, and when he finally relents, it's of inferior quality.
Yeah,
soooooooooooo many similarities.
*roll eyes* If there's any "spin" going on, it's in your desparate need to pretend these scenarios share as much in common as you wish they did.
"And probably because Jackson hasn't repalced Frodo with a walking talking CGI banana in this release"LOL!
