Palpatine's crew?

What's up with Palpatine's crew in the PQ? You have a bald chick, a fat guy with horns, and two funked up aliens that don't say much. At least we think he's not racist. Although if you check out he's crew in ROTJ its all old white dudes called Sage or something like that. What gives?

For a second there, I thought Bossk has gone mad.

I thought the same thing.

Yeah I think his 'crew' is pretty sucky in the PT, but damn you got to love the royal guards!

Here's your answer Bossk: Don't question the PT. It makes no sense and will drive you insane.

Fat Jedi is right. I noticed this as well and always wondered why did they have to ***** up that too.

Palpatine was always portrayed as racist: he hated aliens, perhaps believing in superiority of the "master human race" (whateveryacallit), that's why the Empire was enslaving aliens from many worlds - take Wookies, for example. They were used for hard manual labor. Wasn't Ackbar Tarkin's slave?
The Empire is modelled in the movies to give us the "look&feel" of our real-world racist (hate-oriented or whatever you call it in PC lingo) systems/organizations. So you easily believe in racist Galactic Empire, because in its military ranks you see only white human males. While geeks may speculate on "what lies beneath stormtrooper's helmet" giving examples from EU, let's face it - this is how it was made for the movie and the effect is working. The contrast is well seen when compared to egalitarian Rebellion (that's how we call the Alliance ), where all not-necessarily-white men, women - and even non-humans! - are welcome.

It would give us a nice continuity - and again nice effect of contrast - if we could see that in the PT world even more crowded with alien races (see: the senate) Palpatine plots his dark deeds only with (white) humans. Because those pale ill-looking Imperial Officials were indeed creepy and sinister.

GL could use alien Palpatine aides on the condition of showing us in the end that they're expendable for Palpatine. So e.g. Maul could die because Palpatine intended him to perish in battle (to "free the slot" for new apprentice).

Instead we got a bunch of new costumes and CGI. Why? Is there a deeper meaning? No. "We added them because they look cool, aren't they? Look what we can do with our rendering farms!"
I saw the original theatrical release of the Old Trilogy on the big screen and I'm proud of it...
How did I accomplish that (considering my age) is my secret...

i am guessing that it was a ploy, remember he was still riseing to full power, and he needed as many allies a possible, i bet he would have done anything he had to regardless of personal preferences, then after he was in a secure position, he showed he true colours. same sort of idea as with the jedi, he spent year working with them, then when the time was right bam.

The obvious answer is to have more costumes and sell more toys.

But wasn't the horned guy serving under Vellorum before Palpatine? Probably just kept his job and did whatever Pals told him to do. As far as Sly Moore is concerned, I don't even know what the hell she does.
There's good in the Original Trilogy, and it's worth fighting for.

I think as more EU stories set between Episode III and IV are written, Palpy's alien staff probably will be sacked or have unfortunate accidents.
As for Sly Moore, maybe Sith lords dig bald women?

You need a bald woman in a sci-fi series. See Star Trek: the Motion Picture, and Alien 3.

Hey, I'm bald, can I have a part in the TV series then and stand around doing nothing?

The Horned Guy (Mas Amedda) clearly was the Mike Novick of that Galaxy Far Far Away. Or Associate Bob. Or Bruno Gianelli. Take your pick. He just likes being the man behind the man, party affiliation be damned.

Oh hell, if the Emperor had any brains (maybe not) he'd off Mas Amedda as soon as he can.

Thanks for the feedback guys. Just wanted to vent off some more of my disgust for the PT.
