I was trying to find a "That's Age-ist" gif, but I had to settle for this one.

Ziggy is Homo-Superior (the coming race).

Any road up I'd be interested to see if there is any direct connection between the end of Prometheus and the last flight of the Nostromo.

Was Nostromo diverted on it's return journey to Acheron because of a company suit unearthing information about the earlier story?

Ash was put onboard the ship before take off so it seems unlikely to me that it was a standard Ore collection that by fluke discovered the derelict's signal.

Might want to avoid using that one. Not everyone knows you like we do in off topic.

Someone could get very offended if you basically called them racist when you meant something else.

Well, I was responding to something you were saying, and I just figured that you knew I was kidding.

But I know what you're saying.

^This is why we aren't allowed to have nice things.

Prometheus talk please.

From some of the pics, it definitely looks like the movie is about the Space Jockey species (unless there is a massive misdirection campaign). Scott has always talked about this as something he wanted to explore - he mentions it  in the Alien Director's Commentary.

Bingowings; let's hear your reasons why Aliens is overrated.

DON'T LEGITIMIZE HIS HATE WITH LOGIC!!!

I agree with Bingowings.

Alien is a masterpiece, a work of art. Every frame of film has you the edge of your seat.

Aliens is mostly just mindless action, mostly.

Fixed!

I understand why some people prefer Alien.  But to call Aliens mindless action is...well...mindless!

Some of those pics seem to be the opposite of what Ziggy's experiencing.

IT'S MY TRILOGY, AND I WANT IT NOW!

"[George Lucas] rebooted the franchise in 1997 without telling anyone." -skyjedi2005

"Yeah, well, George says a lot of things..." a young 1997 xhonzi on RASSM

"They're my movies." -George Lucas. 19 people won oscars for their work on Star Wars (1977) and George Lucas wasn't one of them.

Rewrite the Prequels!

Yes...he's experiencing racism.

Er...speci-ism?

I liked Alien vs. Predator.* I think that it has a lot of potential as a storyline.

Certainly, Alien is still the best of the series, but there's nothing wrong with Aliens. Haven't seen any of the others.

Keep Circulating the Tapes.

Overrated isn't the same as crap.

It simply means overrated.

Cameron copied Ridley's lighting and much of the plot points but the tone is more comedic and cheesy, it has some awful special effects, the score is terrible...mostly and the choice of aspect ratio really does make the film look a lot cheaper and less epic than it needed to.

It's a solid action film (one of the best of the decade) with some really fun moments but it's not in the same league as the really troubling handsomely mounted horror of Alien.

Bizarre as it may seem I thought the first AVP was much better than it really should have been with the premise and all (the second one is everything I expected the first one to be).

It's more Aliens' cousin (guest starring those Rasta crabs from Predator) than Alien's.

But BACK ON TOPIC.

What about the backwards stretching story thread in Alien?

Ash being on board couldn't be just a coincidence.

He was sent to protect the Alien - which creates all sorts of questions that we may get (unsatisfactory) answers for in Prometheus.

How did The Company know that the find was valuable? A prior encounter seems the most likely explanation

Why is the Alien considered more valuable than any of the Space Jockey technology that might be salvageable?

Why not just send in a specialized team to grab some of the eggs and take them to an isolated research facility?

Bingo is getting a lot of crap for his feelings on Aliens, but I completely agree with him. Aliens really isn't much more than a silly action film. It isn't even a shadow of the greatness of the first film, it really is just an action flick set in the same universe and using the same main character as the first film.
