I was just on thedigitalbits.com and found out about Lucasfilm/Georgie-boy himself allowed the showing of a 70mm print of a 1981 cut of New Hope (aka, the 1977 cut with “Episode IV: A New Hope” in the crawl)

Finally, I’m mentioning this today in a sort of “just leaving this here” kind of way… but Lucasfilm just allowed The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences to show (on 6/29) a 70 mm print of the original version of Star Wars in a double feature with Rogue One. As in the ORIGINAL original version, with Episode IV in front of the crawl but otherwise unmolested by special edition changes. Yes, you read that right. I’ve heard through the grapevine that George Lucas personally gave the okay for it. What else this might import, I would not yet dare to say. But I hear from friends that the screening was every bit as awesome as you’d expect.

It is indeed good news mate - and something that is being already discussed in this thread 😃:-

70mm print of GOUT on Saturday in Academy Theater in CA!

There are also a couple of other threads re recent showings of Star Wars on the big screen too (one was a 2006 DVD GOUT showing, the other has unfortunately just been changed to a showing of the SE, I think) - in the General Star Wars Discussion section.

I find that answer vague and unconvincing. Why don’t you knock it off with them negative waves?
Why don’t you dig how beautiful it is out here? And say something righteous and hopeful for a change?
