I was just skimming through my list of all 1080i HD files I have and I just seen I have this listed, now this file is pretty old lol so I am wondering if this would have the BD coloring? hell or if it is even OAR for that matter, I need to get out my storage discs and check, unless someone already knows it is the same coloring as the BD, I also found The Gate!

The Gate rules! I recorded an HD transfer from IFC HD this past halloween, but I haven't gotten it transferred off my DVR yet.  This is one of those films where if it wasn't for fan preservation's, I question whether we'd ever get an official Blu ray release.

and does anyone know what ROTLA this is? I found this backup as well.

Looks like the earlier HD master with the CGI cliff shot.

Not sure if anyone brought this up yet, but what about Return to Oz? That seems up Team Blu's alley. I know there is a 1080i version out there. There is also an awesome feature length documentary called Return To Oz: The Joy That Got Away that was an internet only release. There's also extras from the DVD and a lot of cool stuff floating out there on YouTube. I think this is a really under appreciated classic that deserves a proper release that I know it will never get!

I second this request. A Team Blu release of this would be awesome!!!

A picture is worth a thousand words. Post 102 is worth more.

I’m late to the party, but I think this is the best song. Enjoy!

VUDU also has this one in 1080p HDX, so video sources are available.  There is one Japanese LD with digital stereo sound (This one: http://www.lddb.com/laserdisc/38562/PILF-1052/Return-to-Oz-%281985%29 ).  I found a couple of Japanese auctions that have that LD so I could help to get it for a LPCM digital audio track if the project is of interest.

Is Day of the Dead still worthwhile for making a custom BD? dark_jedi, I know you released an uncensored audio version awhile ago, but, in the interim, the Scream release has come out.

Can anyone here attest to the Scream's superiority? I heard there were compression and color timing issues, but I have a hard time believing it could be worse than the grain-reduced Anchor Bay version... Thanks.

I think the big issue with the Scream are the digital artifacts. It's a bit bandwidth starved.

Yes that too, plus it's cropped slightly.

Could you do some screen cap comparisons of the JP?

Maybe some of the same caps as caps-a-holic

Detail to me is no better then Anchor bay and color is very very slightly different

Thanks for grabbing screen caps

The French BD doesn't seem to suffer the same overzealous noise reduction that all but destroys the Anchor Bay and Arrow versions. It isn't stretched, either, but rather the Anchor Bay release is squashed to 1.85:1.

If you take a look at the comparison here, there's some serious clipping going on in the Scream version:

I've tried ordering the French BD before, but Amazon.fr won't ship to my destination.

It is just the US Version, afaik. But it is announced to have better color and better sound than the US release, even if picture is not as sharp as US release.

A dutch online store seems to sell it for about € 12 not including shipping. To bad my vacation is still 2 weeks in the future, its only ~60 km to Venlo from home.

EDIT:

freerecordshop.nl wants a NL adress at registering. Seems not very european/international friendly. I can't find any other sonline stores selling NL stuff. Maybe I can locate it on a trip in my vacations somewhere in a store, if I find time for a trip.

I got it from vanleest.nl in 2008, but apparently they are now freerecordshop.nl.

Maybe this one?

I got mine last year from http://www.dvdoutlet.nl/nl/neverending-story-the-blu-ray-8715664055045.html

It was about 12 Euros shipped to the US, looks like the price has gone up since then, or maybe they just removed the VAT when I ordered.

Edit: It seems that the price has definitely gone up as my order e-mail specifically mentions that €1.91 tax was part of the 6.99 price.  (I thought it was illegal in most places to add tax to orders shipped outside of a country, but whatever.)

Maybe they know it's better than the US BD and is now probably OOP, so get it while you can.
