As Matt said, the european cut of Army is much better. It has a lot of great extra scenes. I don't know why they didn't include them in the US version.

On the downside, it changes the great line "Good... bad... I'm the guy with the gun" for a plain "I ain't that good", but the rest is way better. ""

So is there a BD available in any country that has the extra scenes and the S-Mart ending? I'm not bothered about the "guy with the gun" line.

George creates Star Wars.
Star Wars creates fans.

Fans destroy George.

I much prefer the MGM extended DVD cut from Europe. It is awesome... Except for two changes.

1. It doesn't have the line, "Good... Bad... I'm the guy with the gun."

2. The S-mart ending is so much funnier.

No questions that everything else about the longer cut is better. It's not fluff or filler.

Sounds like a good idea for an edit.

I would have purchased one of the European releases but since my absolute most favorite line was still not put into place I passed. So a special edit would certainly be welcome. :)

DoomBot, dvdmike: I prefer the US theatrical cut as well.

I am with Rami, and I saw it first with the EU cut

Yes the US and the International cut have the S-Mart ending.

International cut has  jokes and lines that differ from the US but the US is still better IMO.

Only the US version has the S-Mart ending.

Not true, i have all 3 cuts and the International cut has the S-Mart ending.

The US and International versions both had the S-Mart ending.  The Director's Cut has the original apocalypse ending and the original Japanese LD was basically the International version with the original apocalypse ending.

The German set is the way to go if you want the most complete package but the French Blu-ray has all three versions as well.  Both the French and German BDs have different degrees of DNR and EE on the US version.  The only releases that didn't use DNR were the US HD-DVD and the UK Blu-ray.

The transfer used to create the Director's Cut and International Cut looks good overall but the whites are blown out and the overall detail level is lower than that of the transfer used to create the US theatrical versions.  I've considered trying to create sort of a hybrid version of the Director's Cut that uses the UK BD for most of the footage and only uses the DC transfer for footage that wasn't in the US theatrical release but the framing is different on both versions which presents it's own problems.

I enjoy my HD-DVD version.  The picture is pretty darn nice for a dead format.

Speaking of HD-DVD, Streets of Fire is finally scheduled to be released on Blu-ray in the UK.  It's only ever been available on HD-DVD and that disc looked and sounded pretty awesome.  There were no special features though.  The new Blu-ray will be packed with features.  Hopefully they don't screw it up, but if they do I believe DJ has the HD-DVD in his archive.

Can someone give me some advice, as to what the proper settings are for any Bittorrent clients, as I'm having a difficult time getting it to work properly.

I would love to get some of them with the intent to review for Darkjedi and to seed.  The download speed is around 30 to 50kbs, even though there appears to be 10 or more seeders.

I've tried to look-up some info on this but not having much luck.  Any help would be appreciated and I hope it was o.k. to post these questions in this thread?

BTW, can someone give me information on The Ninja Trilogy.  I'm not sure I've ever heard of it?

Thanks everyone, take care!

I assumed the Japanese LD was the International Cut, so that's the discrepancy.

All the projects are looking great! As always, I can't wait to watch them!

I have just one fanboy question about a technical aspect, will they include the LD audio? For me, this is the single most desirable feature for any 80'ies and 90'ies movies.

I know some of them don't have a digital PCM track, but, in these cases, an analog track capture would be desirable and justified.

If I have the LD's then yes, if not no, and if there is no 5.1 track I will make a custom one like for Fright Night Part II.

If you can check which LDs the team doesn't have, I can try to get some of them ;)

I'm specially interested in Critters and Sheena. Both of them would have to be analog captures, as there are no PCM version available. Tough, for Critters sequels there are PCM LDs.

Request: The In Crowd (2000)

I know there is a 1080p file of this floating around on the net, however there has been no talk of an official release of this on Blu-ray.

Is it the r rated version floating around? if so where can it be found?

I also now have Demon Knight and Bordello of Blood so this will be a double-feature.

Yes.

I believe there was only 1 version of the movie released, which was rated PG-13.  I have the DVD and it is also rated PG-13.  The only source I could find for this was:

Request: Pet Sematary Two (1992)

I know there is a 1080i file floating around on the net for this.  Another sequel worthy of an unofficial release, since an official one doesn't seem to be planned anytime soon.

Idea: Fully Authored BD-25 for Stephen King's Sometimes They Come Back (1991)

I have the 1080p file of this if anyone is interested in jumping on board with creating this classic Stephen King tale into a Blu-ray.
