Our Audible Star Wars Podcast Reviews

Hey! Longtime OT forum member, and I felt it would be a good idea to let all of you know of a small podcast-series I and my brother have been jabbering about. It’s called “Phil and Jake in Conversation”, and is really just a means for us to talk about things that we find interesting to our friends (which is most of our listenership as of right now)
BUT we are currently going through a very elaborate “review” of all six “Star Wars” films before Episode VII shows up.

We’ve seen the Star Wars films since we were tiny children (and as a filmmaker-type myself, I consider them - as most do - big inspirations), and in our little podcast we decided to re-watch these films with the mentality that we’ve never seen them before (for the OT it’s blank-slate, but for the prequels, it’s pretending that all we know about is the OT) and then have a very elaborate talk over the story in a scene by scene basis.

Keep in mind, Jake and I don’t particularly know a lot about “Expanded Universe” stuff, and we really try to pretend we only know the films themselves. Therefore - even though we don’t enjoy the PT that much - I think you might find our reviews of the prequels a little bit different than the typical “it sucked because it sucked” fare, which is why we wanted to see it pretending we’ve only seen it for the first time.

here is the link to the episodes of our little humble podcast which has the “Star Wars” reviews on them.

If you’re not really sure about listening to a couple of nuts talk about this, here’s a small sample of some things we talk about.

for the original ‘Star Wars’ the actual review starts at 44:27 in case you don’t want to listen to anything off-topic
Phantom starts at 6:55, Empire starts at 47:52 Clones at 33:23, and Sith at 26:59

If that wasn’t completely un-listenable, we still have yet to get to “Jedi” and “Force Awakens” this month and December. I’m usually the louder one that does all the hokey impressions in these podcasts, and for the newest episode, I’m on the left.

Again, this is just a ‘two guys talking’ format, and there might be a lot of inside-jokes that might not register, but I felt that at least one or two of you might be entertained by some scene-by-scene talks over the Star Wars films. I also understand it’s a loooooooooong haul to commit to, but I think it can at least fill up a few hours during boring car/air/train travels. Hey, talking about Star Wars is fun!

Me too! I understand it’s a long haul but Jake and I really try our best to go through the thing in a scene-by-scene basis and sometimes we even lose our voices but I thought it was a really fun idea. And yet, for some reason, we still forget a few things we wanted to mention with some of the films. It always happens!

I just subscribed. Listening to ep 1 right after I get done with Ep 2 of Serial… I’m always looking for a good Star Wars Podcast.

Wow, thank you so much! Awesome to have some listen to it, and hopefully you found something that will pass the time faster when you need it.

We just recorded our very last “parsecs to Episode VII” episode, with of course, the review to “The Force Awakens”

I’m incredibly embarrassed to say that this thing could keep playing and you could watch “The Force Awakens” twice and have twenty minutes left over until it ends. But otherwise, if someone is really bored… listening to it isn’t that much of a waste of time since there have been surprising disagreements throughout.

And here we go. http://notpodcast.phildragash.com/64-endless-account-of-the-new-celestial-conflict/

Hey Phil I just wanted to let you know that this topic got me to check out your podcast and I pretty much love it! I’ll admit, I haven’t listened to a non-Parsec episode but I do appreciate the banter between you and Jake, especially in the pre-amble. I find it pretty interesting that you count Indiana and Indianapolis proper as your NA base-of-actions as I live about 30 minutes north in Anderson. So when you’re referring to all these cinemas and convention centers I know exactly where you’re talking about. I do look forward to delving deeper into Phil and Jake in Conversation.

To the OT crowd: If you love Star Wars, you owe it to yourself to take a listen to these guys. They approach each movie fairly and in an engaging manner!

Wow, sir! Thank you so much for daring to take the plunge and listen to some of our recordings! Really means a lot! I’m so glad you enjoyed whatever you heard. There were many times I felt I could just give up talking about some of the prequels, but I had to keep plodding on; it wasn’t always a cakewalk. Nice to know our jabber was worth the listen!

Also, you are so dangerously close to were we used to live! It’s impeccable, what are the odds? This galaxy truly is small. I wonder, have you watched any of the Star Wars films in any of the theaters we talked about?

No, sorry, all in Anderson. I saw ANH Special Edition at Applewood 9 and I think Episodes I and II at the old theater behind Mounds Mall (don’t recall the name) and III at Mounds 10 Theater.
