Hi all,
after writing to several of Toronto's biggest newspapers about the upcoming release of the DVD set, saying how it is being advertised as the "original trilogy", but is in fact an altered version, has got the attention of one of Toronto, Canada's biggest newpapers! There is a 4-page spread in today's Sunday Sun about the trilogy and the DVD's. It mentions this site and speaks of the changes in the DVD's. Hopefully this will help our cause! Here is a snipit...

"The real controversy, however, is that these are the digitally revised versions. In 1997, these versions thrilled millions in theatrical re-releases. But some fans believe that even the creator of the Star Wars universe has no right to tamper with his myth-making, science-fiction fantasy films. George Lucas, a restless perfectionist enamoured of the digital age he helped to pioneer, has introduced even more revisions now, bringing the roil to a new broil.

On the Web site OriginalTrilogy. com, purists have mounted a petition that implores Lucas to restore and release the original films exactly as they were shown in 1977, 1980 and 1983. The petition had accumulated 62,100 electronic signatures earlier this week. "

Excellent exposure for us OT nuts. Let´s hope we get more of this in coming weeks. Put a little pressure on Mr. Lucas, the lil´bugger.

A newspaper I found whilst making a "paper hat" for a stupid game we were playing at a lock-in, I saw a picture of Yoda with the caption:

"Suck these changes do. Crying on the inside am I."

The rest of the article was unreadable b/c it was cut and snipped up.

- It´s bound to happen with greater exposure, articles like this. There are definitely a LOT of peepz out there that want the Original OT on DVD and not the 2004 fiasco but have no clue about what´s been going on here for a long time. Cometh to us and thee shall learn about the prophecy of the OT on DVD petition.

People thinking what the media tell them too is partly why The Phantom Menace is so hated. And why there are people actually considering voting for John Kerry.

So, Yeah, I guess if we could get enough media brainswashing going, Lucas might cave in to demands for the OV.

But I doubt it. Not this year.

All joking aside, 99% of voters that are voting for him don't know crap about what is actually going on and vote for him because someone on TV said to.

I'd say most people voting for Kerry are doing so on an "Anyone but Bush" mentality. How this election isn't a democrat landslide is truly beyond me.

In the same sense, alot of people are voting for Bush on the "9/11 NEVAR FORGET!" mindset, forgetting that he has screwed America over like no other president in recent memory.

This release has actually been the perfect opportunity to discuss what OT.com is trying to do; I've had numerous conversations with people about the changes that have been made and have been encouraging people to sign the petition. Here's hoping it works. I may call in to one of the local radio stations tomorrow to see what I can do to raise the profile of the petition as well.

Way to go! everything helps. Since today is the release date, lets start writing all the media and telling them how we were duped into buying the "original trilogy". I'm writing to Fox video and Lucasfilm.
