Kg1977 that is a big improvement and I love the matte image wall.i have a big soft spot for those sorts of things.
The big matte shot looks pink in highlights it is easy enough to color correct I reckon. I noticed a bit of a flicker just as they go to leave the bar though like a layer popped in by accident.
Really good work KG1977!
I will take a look at blue milk later and see what the issue is

what was wrong with the wall??
Benduwan There was no wall it was pitch black in the doorway…
I synched the audio to your blue milk clip.

This is the object that has the reflection frozen in it everything else seems good,

For Tosche station I took a still and did dome color on it.
https://www.mediafire.com/view/7pjtixqdf9o9g1v/Tosche_station.png/file
I’m not saying what I dud is correct but trying to help you push it in the right direction. An important thing here was to desaturate the sky and lighten the sky also.
Sine stuff I was doing…
Vader Take off Hangar Matte Painting

Red Leader Starboard Engine
https://www.mediafire.com/view/0p8avkaes1ahrgk/Red_Leader_engine_explosion.png/file
I messed about creating a still matte and animating the still image but it’s not working so well looks a bit rubbish and beyond my skills and software I think.
Other than that I’ve been doing audio for the trash compactor restored music and done some sound effects editing quite a bit of missing Audio for small things.
Benduwan There was no wall it was pitch black in the doorway…
where?i didn´t see one…pic please.

isn´t this sound only they cook?
KG1977 could not synch it so I did it for him… Now he can add extra stuff whatever that is or might be?
Here is the version 3 of Tosche run in with Ronstar suggestion on less pink hue for wall on wide shot. I did leave the sky same color so it matches the next shot which is interior and the door way.
https://drive.google.com/file/d/1cMs8CV10oiwQoNAk3ay_gY4agpZDyrVN/view?usp=share_link
Benduwan, the interior of Tosche seen from outside was just extra as Ronstar pointed out, subtle effect added because I have the interior wall as a texture for 3D/2D compositing needs later on.
**Blue milk
@Ronstar, so I had to really look for this reflection thing, but saw what you mean and tweaked it some. It’s very subtle and not sure why it froze in that spot for a sec or two. …went ahead and composited it back in from original shot (not sure anyone would have noticed it… but none the less, might as well do it while I am in the file.
Below is updated. I did actually add your audio to my clip in my last version of it but will save your version as well. Initially, I had an issue just downloading the file. I was able to sync once I had it on the timelone. Not so concerned that the sound is a food processor or food “hydrator” as it is possible on tatooine that she is letting some stuff process or cook. Obviously the milk sound is there already. So yea it’s probably a cooking sound, but it’s a kitchen so I think its fine
Version 5…

and finally something I am a little excited to finish.
Comparison video below and will add it to start of tread.

This “Friends watch luke in tank” deleted scene, was tough since it had a lot of scratches and weird artifacts in it plus they forgot to load the camera with color film 😃.
This comes before the longer scene with leia when he is recouping which I have maybe 80% done as well and hope to get out soon. I am trying to go after all the ESB scenes first because if those are done I can add to the ESB Adywan cut along with some simple extension edits and get a nice V1 of ESB-X. Still have a lot of ANH and ROJ deleted to go, but much is in progress as you can see from the start of this tread that is indented to show status. Let me know what what you guys think.
@Ronstar…I get the red leaders engine added FX, but where did you plan to add “Vader Take off Hangar Matte Painting” what scene is that for?
What the hell. That tank scene colorization/restoration looks incredible.

I want to make that Shot of vader flying out look better because I have a matte painting for the Falcon landing too and I think The Special Edition although revisionist The new matte paintings are good so I wanted to expand on that a bit. But not too much.
Whoops I deleted everything by accident…
Tosche Station V3 Look at the funnel right at the start of the clip in the top left should come later in the timeline. But yeah it’s getting better.
Blue Milk = 100% Fixed
Bacta Tank - Really great work the scenes of Luke in the Tank and 3P0 and R2-D2 totally seemless you would not know it was originally black and white. Where is the muic from it works quite well?
https://youtu.be/r-rt3ev-hkI?t=489
Glad you never used this bit as I think this is too frantic and I think was to do with the probe droid spotting a snowspeeder and following back to echo base. There is no footage to go with this I don’t think. But perhaps It goes with the Wampa attack or something?
at 08.29 I think is Luke going up the tube and out the Bacta Tank
Nice colourisation job on the extended bacta tank scene!
ifjg, Slavicuss, Ronster
Glad you like the colorization. I remember telling Benduwan (I think it was) that I had no plans to do black and white in extended versions, but once I saw the latest tools for this and how far things have come, I am definitely including what I can. Next up for BW is a portion of the Luke and Yoda training. I am also looking forward to Luke and the Rancor extra scene where he uses force jump.

I especially like the blue colour on the FX-7 droid in the background shots.
About the audio. What are you going to use for 2-1B’s addition dialogue (voiced by the director)?
I like the overhead shot (looking down through the grating) of young Skywalker about to get into hand-to-hand combat with the Gamorrean Guard. Would’ve been an interesting fight to see. Wonder if any more of it was filmed?
Ronstar
I ended up using some sound at the tail end of this and there was some music that is subtle but worked when leia looks bad at han
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nSL6_PkTwD0
@Slavicuss, Yea, when colorizing, I use some reference shot are actual and FX-7 droid is blueish color in those, so the goal is to match the color as close as possible to the scene cut in
The audio for 21B in the extended version is quite extensive and uses radio drama audio, but it is a different actor “Russell Horton” as opposed to on screen 21B played by “Denny Delk” Did not plan to have 21B speak in that scene. When han speaks that he is not sure what “he” is saying, I am taking that to mean R2 as it is right after r2 beeps and chewie response (not sure if wookies understand droid though) I have clip of harrison saying “R2” and thought about maybe adding later so the viewer know better who he is referring to. Is that what you meant or who I planned to use for 21B in later scenes?
BW luke and the Rancor is another scene I look forward to colorizing. I have a good copy of, not as good as bluray, but good enough. It has been edited in by fans before and the scenes can fit well. It offers a look at luke using force jump which is pretty cool, the hanging part and the drop back and another shot…fairly short, but a nice added scene for ROJ
That music was a good choice… It’s the right kind of vide going on.
I won’t have much to share for a while with you as I am now back at work. But when I get the time I will get back to working on stuff. The planned bits to get audio done.
Binoculars opening edited needs audio effects music done.
Binoculars Lars homestead no music sound effects mix needs doing
Search for R2-D2 audio is done effeccts shots of Land speeder scanner and video edit needs to be better.
Trash compactor sound mix nearly complete just need to add Chewie bashing the wall and R2-D2 plugging in sound effects.
Battle of Yavin. I have the end of the battle pretty much wrapped for audio and video. Only Red Leader get Hit and wedge get hit. It is a bit extended by about 30 seconds now. The start is sort of done also but it needs to be properly assembled it is not extended version but will have alternate and new shots.
There is more but these are the main things to finish for me. And Cantina V2.
Here is the Trash Compactor Scene edit
https://vimeo.com/manage/videos/798499271/privacy
There is a bit of the corridor battle.
Added the Echo shout from Chewie going in the Garbarge chute from Radio Drama
Scenes were re-arranged to fit the soundmix here
Fixed Han’s blaster sounds not matching up with the shot’s fired,
Try to fix Crushed Blacks from Special Edition in trash compactor and changed contrast bit experimental
Re-Arramged footage of Ricochet sequence
Added Chewie Banging on the Door which is missing from this sound mix
The Conversation was re-arranged between Luke and Han to make more sense and extra Dialogue was added this also fixed Chewie being at the door then suddenly not at the door but in the water further into the room.
Dianoga popping it’s eye out the water removed as this comes later when they leave.
Added sound for the tentacle that grabs Luke’s Leg
Added Water splash sounds.
Fixed audio Synch Issues.
Flipped shot of Han when searching the water
Partially restored Dianoga Music
Restored Trash Compactor missing music
Added extra sound to trash compactor walls
Extra sound effects in hangar control room for door button and picking up the communicator
Fixed trooper banging his head with normal cutting / editing
added stars to Death star hangar entrance and done color work on these scenes
fixed no sound for R2-D2 arm and changed speed to make it like previous time he used it but top of frame runs at normal speed.
Added Big creaking sounds to increase the tension of the crusher just before it get’s stopped.
Hope you like it.
Enjoyed that edit a lot. Very cool how much more menacing the Dianoga seems when he doesn’t pop up. Wish you kept the stormtrooper head bonk, though.
Nice job!
You’ve edited out the Stormtrooper bumping his head, but left him adjusting his helmet a moment later, when the other troopers enter the room.
The tentacle grabbing Luke sounds very good, as does Chewie beating on the door.
Some of the wider shots look a little lighter compared to the tighter shots (inconsistent black level?)
The video quality is very nice. Lovely colours.

Yeah I don’t have any rotoscoping software for video so I kind of have to leave him fiddling but it’s not that noticeable as the headbanger goof
Also yes I noticed that and I wanted to address that before I read your post. I was not sure if I had to desturate the main source to mix the shadow detail to undo the crushed black. Turns out I did not have to. So I re-upped the video and it’s a little better now on V3.
I think not having sound for the tentacle and R2-D2’s arm was quite bad errors to be honest and what with a little music sound effects and some color work I can say I am done with this now on V3.
The script states “the tentacle by the door” when they get out the trash compactor and I think that is the eye of the dianoga to be honest. I think the scene works better without that shot. And including it late makes the scene when they leave work better too.
I think I spotted one more issue Leia is seen to shout “Luke!” but the actual audio is heard later on. So if I do a V4 i will just quietly fix that problem. But for now this is better than last upload.
Edit:
5 versions later updated to final. 4 times the audio goes out of synch a headache but worth it… It’s done now anyway the soundmix and frame count / work. It’s as good as I can do.
Nice Job on this. Never realized so many missing audio pieces.
Could not tell looking, and without comparing, but did you use all the music?
sample:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gtRD2Vfsigg
Or was it just in some places? Seems like you may have picked and choosen based on where it fit in, which is good.
Thanks Kg1977 yes that is correct the Dianoga music matches the footage at the very start point but there really is no discernable detail after this that it really compliments. If anything the music detracts from the scene. However the Audio dialogue is out of Synch in parts so it is now all in synch which finally put’s that right.
The Omitted Trash compactor score was included in full.
In the end it became a hybrid of original stereo mix and Special edition Sound effects and a few extras. The Special edition version of the Trash Compactor scene has a weird mix for the music where it does not sound so good the strings are too loud.
Ended up being more work than I bargained for but glad it’s done. It was a big effort and a big audio job.
EDIT:
A bit of informstion regarding Squiggle marks on deleted scenes. These could very well be purposefully done to designate either start after first frame or before squiggle appears the last frame.
That would mean the devil in the Cantina stays past his welcome and we are missing a cut away to match the laughter. It’s not damage it’s a squiggle marker cue point.
Here is the Landspeeder Search and Ben’s Hut
https://vimeo.com/manage/videos/801601233
I took the decision to not include the deleted rear projection scenes of Luke and 3P0 in the land speeder they just don’t match the film at all.
Quite a bit of Color work
Added re-created shot of the landspeeder scanner
Put R2-D2 in the correct canyon and now the correct place from earlier
Added some extra shots of The Sandpeople on the Banthas these need a bit of clean up if anyone cares to help on that.
Music Cue Partially Restored
Next Music cue was put in synch as it went out of synch
Fixed it so the footage and sound now match up for the binoculars
Added lot’s of sound effects for various stuff.
Added a new angle of the canyon to time with the music and rhythm and a wipe to R2 in the cave
Used Alternate “Boy am I glad to see you”
Changed Special Edition Ben’s Hut to be the opposite way around
Re-edited Bem’s hut to be in the correct order
Fixed Missing Shot of Lightsaber I think there was supposed to be another one a close up of Luke holding it but I could not do that
Made Death Star Reveal just one shot.
Hope you like it 😃

nice done.but leave this lighsaber shot.looks bad.btw it should be mirrored…
The close-up shots of the Landspeeder scanner screen and the lightsaber (in Ben’s hovel) are too brief. The scanner screen shot I’d extend by some more frames. The lightsaber close-up I’d leave out.
I like the lone shot of R2, trundling along in the canyon.
The editing of the banthas is a little jarring.
Well as far as the Lightsaber close up shot goes I messed up the audio a bit there… I don’t want to give up on it just yet because in the Film the Lightsaber just appears and Luke changes position which is a lot worse than the close up of the lightsaber.
That shot of R2-D2 in the Canyon is supposed to go there for some reason he was put in the other canyon earlier in the film and it just does not work at all in that part as it’s a totally different location and it ruins continuity,
As for Editing of the Banthas yeah it’s been a bit of a tough call because I am not editing it how I would really like to because there are big marks on some of the frames and I tried to avoid that knowing full well that nobody is going to clean it up or it might be very hard to clean up. I am not hitting the cues because I am avoiding big frame damage.
But I did notice when the cue of Drum roll starts this should probably cut to the Tuskan Raider running along the edge of the ridge. I should be able to hit that cue.
Never say final I will try and get another better version up in a while but I think best to keep the Landspeeder scanner as a brief crash cut. I will try and add a few extra frames and see how it goes.

The extra shot of the lightsaber - is that supposed to be carpet (background)?
