I am using several sources because the colours in most restorations are incorrect.

Incorrect according to what? What are you using as your colour reference that shows every other release as incorrect?

Also, I still don’t believe you that these 2012 Swedish 35mm scans from either 1996 or 1997 or 1998, or whatever year you keep moving them to, are real. Why has no one else heard of them before?

because they are fan made and private? why are you so insisting here?

I think because you’re the only person in the Star Wars community who has access to these scans!

you can have access to them too if you find the website I downloaded them from. it’s been some time and I never wrote it down so.

I will do a reel sample video showcasing the scenes on YouTube within 9-12 September. I don’t understand the imgur system here so I will make a video. I will send the link here when done.

Because as far as I am aware, or anyone else for that matter, fanscans of films didn’t really start appearing online until late 2016, with the Silver Screen Edition. TN-1 started work on them in 2012-ish, but nothing complete got posted until 2016.

If there was scans done in 2012, even of the 97SEs, this site would of known about it, they would of been great sources for Despecialised and other restorations and fanedits.

If they were real scans, and this was a real unique project, you would show them off to everyone and shut everyone up and prove them wrong. Yet you haven’t. Why?

I can sure send them at some point (or fragments of it).

You are correct. Maybe OP has another definition of “soon”, regarding he is using it since September 2024…

Imgur hosts screenshots, so you should take all of 2 minutes and host one and share it with us here.

The creation of new versions for this restoration is coming to its finish point. The sample reel is now under editing and will release tomorrow on Friday 12 September. I will upload the link here after it has been published.

I still don’t understand the need for a low quality reconstruction of the 97SE, but if it makes you happy, great!

Which of those shots were from the film scan you have?

I think having it low-quality is good because of two things: one, it adds a sense of nostalgia to the film so you get to like feel the films as the people saw them in 1997. Two, it also saves space in devices, since having all restorations and fanedits be 10GB per film takes a good chunk of computer space.

And as for the question you wrote; most scenes. the scenes that were taken from other sources were the Wampa-scene, the scream of Luke shot, the Death Star near Alderaan shot and the victory celebration ending.

So you cleaned and stabilized all the other shots from a film scan? Wow!

And as someone who saw the movies in theaters, I saw it in much better quality. 😉

that’s interesting. maybe I should try to create a 720p or 1080p variant, but not immediately, considering I finished this project only today after starting it again from scratch already around spring.
