Original Trilogy set I made from Laser Disc to DVD (using the Faces LDs) (Released)

 (Edited)

I just made a great Star Wars original trilogy DVD set. This set was made from laserdiscs. The laserdiscs set and I used was the face set. Not the definitive collector’s edition laserdiscs set. The picture is very good I used a DVD recorder and a pioneer elite laserdiscs player. I have made sets before with PC capture cards that do not even come close to a DVD recorder. If anybody would like to get this DVD set please e-mail me at Supermandcwb@hotmail.com my laserdisc player has DNR noise reduction which helps out to smooth out the picture. This set has Dolby Digital 2.0 sound and closed caption for the hearing-impaired. If you would like to see some screen shots just e-mail me.

Hi & Welcome

Sounds an interesting set - can you tell us how it compares to the TR47 or Dr Gonzo sets, or perhaps post a couple of screencaps on here?

Are they anamorphic or letterbox?, NTSC or PAL? Does your set have a title screen, menus, or chapter stops?

Sorry for all the questions - just interested in some info

"oojason" I have only tried one Star Wars DVD set. It was a very bad set with frequent pauses on the DVD. if you email me I can send you some pictures. I just have not done a web site in years.

Just emailed you Spider.

you could upload some pics to a site such as www.zippyimages.com (if they are less than 1mb each) for free - easy to use as well, and post the links here we won't all clog ur email addy.

Spider - Impressive shots m8 - have you thought about putting a few screencaps in the 'official screenshots' thread? - it would be a lot easier to compare to the other sets.

Is your OT dvdr set PAL or NTSC based?

Please if any one my DVD set not to trade with this person I talk to him by email his email address is rikter_blaksvn@yahoo.com user name is First Name: Rikter
Last Name: Blaksvn
Nickname: Rikter

He ask me how much the DVD set would cost I said $20.00 dollars. This is what he said. Right on.

I've never made a set nor do I feel the need to. Like
I said if you get your set out I will get a copy
either via a trade or for a few bucks a disc.

I feel that $20.00 dollars is not alot. For the people that do video editing of it is not a cheap hobby. My laserdisc player cost me $1000 my DVD recorder costs be $700. Plus I bought three Star Wars face cents trying to get the best copy I could. Trying to avoid laserdisc errors. Each of the Star Wars face sets cost me about $70 dollars.I do not like it when people try to get things for nothing and somebody else has to do all the hard work. It took me about nine hours to make this DVD set. This set is made for people that do not have laserdisc players were do not have the knowledge to make a DVD set themselves. The money that use goes back into video editing.

I really didn't understand that...

Spider, you need to realize that this is not a place for you to advertise your DVD's in order to sell them. I understand if you're trying to make some of your money back, but really it's against the forum rules to advertise them for sale (not to mention highly illegal), and most people here won't expect to pay anything more than the cost of a blank disc and shipping. Trying to make money off people here isn't a very good idea.

Take it from me, I thought a bit like you when I first started this project. I had a lot of friends telling me that I could make a lot of cash by selling my DVD's on ebay and such. But in all seriousness, preserving these discs isn't about that. It's about sharing them with fellow fans for all to enjoy. I'm spending a lot of time and money on my DVD's, and I don't expect to make any money back off of them. I'm doing it because I want to see these movies preserved in the best way possible, and I'd still be doing it even if nobody else cared.

LOL...only a person with 8 posts would think that nobody here knows who Rikter is.

I've put a great deal of time, effort and money into my own transfers, but it was for the transfer. This is something I've wanted to do for years, and have slowly acquired the money, technology and know-how to do it right.

You want to make money of off your set - go to E-Bay. You'll be rich. But don't come here presuming to tell us what's what around these parts until you've gotten to know the people. Rikter is quite the man here, and as for your "warning", well, it's pretty funny to the rest of us.

BTW, once you've sold it on E-Bay, don't be surprised to find other people selling copies of your transfer, much less giving copies away for free on BitTorrents. Then again, considering we are all stealing Lucas' "intellectual property", none of us can really bitch about it anyways.

Believe me, it's coming. I found out that Combustion 3 doesn't save my changes like I thought it would, so those first 15 minutes that were edited frame by frame are gone.

I do have a full-length unaltered master. Maybe I'll make an XVID that someone could host on MySpleen until the corrections are made?

Thats a bummer man. Thats a lot of work lost.
As far as MySpleen, is that a torrent? Forgive my ignorance. Im sure lots on the forum would appreciate that. Im just curious for the sake of the project. I think the effort you are putting into it points to a great result. So I suppose im interested, simply for the sake of seeing the preservation.

Well, someone like Rikter could make it a Torrent. That way, people can see that my project isn't vaporware. Screen shots are one thing - but pure 24fps goodness is something else entirely.

- I NEVER figured you were selling them .... as this forum has rules against OPENLY selling them that is. (I'm sure you did read the forum rules - right?) - okay, it's cool to make a few bucks for the duplication of the discs but to say that you just want to make BACK $1770.. for your EFFORT?? Really now.. Is that necessary? (as others have suggested - eBay is really where you wanna be buddy)

3rd. You say you've invested $1770 min. into what you say is only "about nine hours to make this DVD set"

- Sorry to make that seem insignificant BUT...

MeBeJedi... ( And a few others like - Zion, Laserman, Farsight, Dr. Gonzo and ISOMIX - a few well liked and respected forum members) alone has spent the better part of 1 YEAR... yes, O-N-E year or more now and ENDLESS hours of trial and error creating his set; a set for the fans - And he ONLY really asks to receive recognition for his many achievements. (Oh yea, did I mention that he's got a ZILLION $ in medical bills that his family has to deal with - YET he still will offer his set for free via download? MBJ - SEND the bookie my love man!)

Man, I could go on and on about the creators of these MANY sets and the wonderful work they've done. (NOT to mention the FREE downloads that Dr. Gonzo, Farsight and MYSELF have provided. BTW - I have Droids up for free download now )

In any event.

IF ANYBODY has already gotten this set or if anybody PLANS to get it.....

PLEASE, Let me get a copy from you and I will make "SPIDERS" Original Trilogy Edition "available" for FREE via the TORRENTS as soon as I get them!

(I will make it VERY much worth your efforts to get me a copy of this set - and you know this man! )

- I would like to thank the forum for all your support - MeBeJedi you da MAN! - (I'll be posting your PROTOTYPE as a torrent AFTER the Droids is done - I PROMISE!)
